Found out that a friend unexpectedly died. He hadn't even reached his 40th birthday. We shared a birthday (not same year though, but still).
Got to know him and his little brother fairly well via hanging out a local watering hole close to 20 years ago. It was a hot spot for folks that went to my high school, and this guy and his brother went to my HS 7-8 years after I had graduated.
I shed some tears in my office today when I learned of this. He was a warm, happy and engaging guy who was always glad to see you. I feel terrible for his family, especially his brother who was there with him when he started having a seizure. EMTs could not resuscitate him.
Godspeed, Ryan. May you rest in peace.
Hug (whether virtually or otherwise) your loved ones... friends... family... today.
Thanks for listening.
