What to do about condensation on the water heater flues?  One a few inches above the heater and another in the roof?  Does not share a flue with the furnace.

You are talking about external condensation on the vent duct. Yes?

this is a gas fired heater? How old is it? First time noticing this? Never happened before? 

What does rhe phrase “only a few inches above...” mean?

Yes - 2016 or so

The bend in the pipe is about 8 inches above the heater - which is where the condensation appears/

What is the climate where you live? What part of the country?

Is the water heater in a basement? Garage? Somewhere else?
