I am in a 16 team "Guppie" League (1 Viewer)

Great Article! However it has me second guessing everything with Fantasy Football!

Peformance scoring for QB, WR RB & TE

all td's value:running, catching, passing

1-10 yards 6 pts

11-39 yards 9 pts

40-74 yards 12 pts

75 + 15 pts

VBD has Manning at #30?, the first QB off the board

We start 1 QB, 2RB 2WR (1 flex WR or RB 1 TE, 1 Kicker 1DT for a total of 9

Manning can put up huge numbers, especially on distance TD's

Edge is gone, I believe Manning will be closer to 35-40 passing TD's

This goes against all what is preached in VBD!

Am I nuts or is this too much information overload! Help

If you take him you're the guppy. Convinced?

So than I, the Shark, become a guppie & draft Manning #2.

The Guppie that drafted Manning last year, won the league & took home $2000.00

In a 16 team league, there are no room for errors!

In a guppy league WRs will fly off the board in the first 2 rounds you may see Smith/Johnson/Harrison/Moss/Holt all be taken as well as Palmer, Brady... maybe even Culpepper(!!!?It happened to me- and not in a guppy league--he was lambasted for that pick for the whole day).

All that said. You'll snag a good RB tandem and get Peyton then follow up with WRs and likely get Driver/Mason type reception dudes (80+) in rounds 5-6 assuming you're taking:

QB-RB-RB-RB-WR-WR

Manning

Dunn

Jamal/Chester/Deshaun type

Gore/Taylor/Green --these guys are being drafted WAAAY late IMO... it sets up a QB/WR early option...

Shark move in a guppy league is to play their game better.

I play in a 16 team league with a couple of sharks and some guppies. I know the risks. Your point? :D

You will not be stacked at RB's like 8, 10 or 12 team leagues. The true STUDS are scattered among 16 teams.

And you are about to blow your chance at getting one of them.

:goodposting: EXACTLY!!!

Umm. The big 3 RB is the way to go here. Why would you project Manning's numbers to be closer to his 1 big season instead of all his other seasons? You would be a fool to take Manning at #2. Sounds like a guppy not recognizing his own kind.

So the fact that Manning has put up less fantasy points the years he's been without Edge (for portions) has led you to believe he will now put up more?It looks like you came to a conclusion and then attempted to back fill the facts to support it, a lot like intelligent design, your logic is all screwy. Also, I'm pretty sure the guy that had Manning last year didn't win because he had Manning, he wasn't even the #1 QB.All the top 10 RBs will be gone by your next pick, you could probably still get a top 5 QB in round 2, if you're dead set on getting a QB early.

To be nice to the OP...

There's NO reason not to take one of the big three. Take the one you want, and move on with your draft.

Taking Manning is a huge mistake.

Good heavens. Everyone here thinks they are a shark. Yeah take Manning at 2....let us know how that works out. Are you sure you don't have any Lundy questions for us?

I can't wait for next Thursday to come.

geez..here we go again......
That helpful!Last year I went RB,RB,RB, WR, QB with these picks in order: picking at the 7th positionj Jonesw ParkerL JohnsonJ HornK. WarnerI got burned with Jones, Warner & Horn.I guess I am getting gun shy with RB's. There are fewer & fewer "cant miss, everydown backs" in the league. Too many RBBC's! The owner in our league had outstanding late round picks at the WR position, Including S.Moss & C. Chambers. His best backs were Droughns & Cadillac, which they did not finish in the top 10 in scoring!I have always picked a RB early. Like I said orginally, perhaps I am getting information overload! :wall: Draft is on Labor Day! Only 5 days!

I also play in a 16 team league and i have to say if you go qb, rb, rb, rb, ythis year, there will not be any driver/mason caliber WRs left for you in round 5. There might be, but its a gamble. As I'm sure you know, those extra 4 teams in there leave every position except QB1 thin. They guy who took manning in the 1st last year in our league didnt make the playoffs. If you have your heart set on manning, why not trade down a few draft slots and improve your 2nd round pick? Manning SHOULD be there for you at pick #8, even in a league thats half guppies.

I think you solved your own question. If you feel there are fewer and fewer top quality backs why would you pass on one at pick #2?
