I am starting _______ over Romo this week (1 Viewer)

I think there is a strong argument to be made that Romo could have another bad game this week. I am interested in hearing if you have a viable alternaative if Romo's thumb is still giving him trouble.

This is not a WDIS thread. I am not looking for advice :goodposting:

Anyone can have a bad week, I staying with Romo, only guy I bench him over is Payton, or Brady. News out of Dallas is the thumb is not a big deal. FF rule 1 don't bench your STUDS

I am starting Romo this week. Derek Anderson is my backup. But, I expect a big bounce back game from Romo and the Cowboys. Unless reports out of Dallas change, I am not considering benching him.

Rolling with Garrard. I got burned last year in the first round of the playoffs with Romo, with his injury it brings back memories.

I agree. But the "never bench your studs" theory is only applicable if the stud is healthy. I'm sure someone here can confirm this, but his accuracy has to be affected by this injury. Romo and Wade Phillips are saying "no big deal," but that looks like typical NFL rhetoric to me. This guys play hurt all the time, and a thumb injury is pretty serious for a QB.Not saying I am planning on benching him for sure, but I do think Romo owners need to be concerned.

Rothlisberger over Romo this week

Can't risk the championship on a bum thumb when I have that sweet matchup vs. STL as an alternative

If you're league doesn't have early locks on rosters, the fact the game is Saturday should give anyone with Romo time to switch if the news pre-game isn't good.

Staying with Romo unless the news get progressively worse by Saturday night.

If I have to I will switch to Warner against the Falcons.

Tony Romo (right thumb) participated fully in Cowboys practice Wednesday.

Romo appears ready to play against Carolina on Saturday night. The Cowboys can get closer to clinching the No. 1 seed in the NFC with a victory.

not to mention...

Terry Glenn (knee) went through limited drills at practice Wednesday.

Glenn said earlier in the week that he feels he'll be "ready to go" at Carolina, but is only likely to perform in a limited role if he does. The Cowboys could ease Glenn back into the rotation like the Broncos did Javon Walker.

Romo is experiencing pain in the thumb when he grips the ball and on his follow-through. You guys need to watch this one very, very, closly.

Tex

Dec 19 Romo (thumb) participated in all of Wednesday's practice, the Cowboys' official site reports.

Recommendation: Head coach Wade Phillips said that Romo's thumb has "really progressed." He should be fine to start on Saturday at Carolina.

any homer news before saturday would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure I buy into the "never bench your studs" theory anymore. I'm in the SB this weekend because I benched W. Parker the last two weeks in favor of J. Lewis and E. Graham.(one more tough week of decisions left). I suppose it's all in your definition of "stud". That being said, I'm starting Romo this week...don't have any better options. Good Luck to all playing this weekend.

Some of you guys have some pretty good options for QBs (Romo AND Brady/Farve?? wow)

Limited in options......I'm confidently stuck starting Romo. Looking for him to bounce back strong after all the Jessica Simpson comments last week.

Favre for me too...can't trust Romo this week even though they are playing for home field.

(BTW, I drafted him in the 11th round of a 16 rounder. He was probably available in late rounds in most leagues)

Kitna could go for me. Decent matchup vs. KC. Waiting to hear how well Romo feels and hopefully the reports are honest. That is my main concern. Full disclosure is not a strength of NFL coaches.

Starting Romo with no fear, been riding with him & Witten the whole year, no need to over coach and lose a championship ...

I am strongly considering starting Anderson over Romo this week. The decision comes down to Romo's thumb versus the weather in Cinci. I am not expecting 5 TDs from Anderson like in week 2. But a solid 2 TDs and 250+ yards of passing would be more than acceptable.

I haven't made up my mind either way. I'll be monitoring injury and weather reports carefully for the next couple days.

I have the same decision to make. Unless I hear something negative from the Cowboys about the thumb, I am going with Romo.

Anyone rolling with McNabb over Romo this week? Facing a soft NO secondary and this thumb injury has me worried. I'm glad I don't have to decide until Sunday.

Same situation here. What sucks is that the Dallas game is on Saturday. If I knew the weather was going to be okay for the Cleveland game, I'd start Anderson but I might have to go with Romo and his jammed up thumb and hope he doesn't throw up a stinker game.

Considering Garrard over Romo. My opponent has TO so I'll likely stick with Romo.
my exact dilemma. this is not a good rationale, but...if romo goes off and he's on my bench, i will never live myself down. but, if i start the horse that brought me here, and by all accounts is healthy and ready to go, and he plays poorly, i would kick myself less.

Plus, if TO blows up, Romo will cancel some of that out. I know some people hate thinking that way but it's stupid to ignore that aspect of things. Best of luck to you this weekend.

agreed! thanks and good luck to you AB

I'm surprised by some of the options that people have. I understand the Romo/Favre since Favre could be had later, but Romo/Brady and Romo/Brees? I targeted Romo in all my leagues this year, but only landed him in two. He went too early in the other leagues.

Romo vs. Bulger in a dynasty.....and I am rolling the dice with Romo. Not crazy about the Rams matchup against Pitt anyway, and given Bulger's injury history this season one good hit and he is done for the year and more importantly my SB game.

Romo v Big Ben. Been switching just about every hour on the hour today.

Leaning towards Romo at this point but then there's still 2hours before kickoff

Tavaris Jackson in my back up, so unless Romo loses more than one limb to amputation between now and Saturday night, he's my guy.

The problem is I have TO and MBIII as well, so if Romo goes into the tank, he could take those two will him like he did last week.

Full participation in Thursday's practice (link) should make the thumb a moot point, right? I'm choosing to bench Big Ben tonight in favor of Romo on Saturday.

Someone dropped Brees when he was sucking. Dumb mistake, but he did last a couple of weeks on the WW. I drafted Romo in the 5th round.

Warner > Romo in my starting lineup right now.

I've always been scared to depend on Warner for one game with his inj risk.

However he has not thrown for multiple TD's in 6 straight games (15 TD over this stretch). Even Brady can't say that.

I'm still 50/50 and need a big QB performance in SB. Opponent has Anderson playing cincy.

This is a good point. I have Garrard, but I can't bring myself to start him unless it's reported that Romo is struggling with his accuracy. Dallas needs this game to stay ahead of Green Bay, so I think they will be fired up and play well.
