Yep. Tasty but loaded with salt and fat, and many brands are carcinogenic.Yeah, but I just read something not too long ago about them being pretty unhealthy.
Tasty, but unhealthy.
Your mistake was not pouring a pound of salt in it like ramen has.My Japanese friend took me to the best noodle shop in Tokyo. It was good but not as good as instant ramen.

Yes, I did think it was not salty enough but it would have been rude to ask for salt or soy sauce because I was the guest.Your mistake was not pouring a pound of salt in it like ramen has.My Japanese friend took me to the best noodle shop in Tokyo. It was good but not as good as instant ramen.

What ramen do you like in DC?nittanylion said:Oats, you live in Manhattan, right? If so, that puts you in the middle of quite possibly the culinary bulls eye of Ramen in the U.S. right now.
David Chang just tearing it up with the Momofuku operation, which I pray you're aware of:
http://momofuku.com/
If you don't know, be there tomorrow.
And upping that ante exponentially is the fact that Manhattan quite possibly has more culinary talent per square foot than any other US city (no offense Chicago and San Francisco), so you've got several talented toques chasing his coattails blazing the latest food trend, which is nice - talented guys pushing each other only works in the dining public's favor...we're doing a pretty great job with high-end Ramen down here in Metro DC as well. If anyone is coming to visit, I'm happy to advise about the Lord's Work that several of my peers and mentors are knocking out of the park currently.
...and that Ramen is exponentially better than Top Ramen from a nutritional standpoint, which is a nice bonus.

The Japanese seem to disagree. Plus, it's only "Lo Mein"Real ramen is delicious. That other crap should be called something else out of respect
Wife's brother took us to Toki Underground while we were visiting. Mega-awesome, and apparently the chef is a guy plucked straight off the mean streets of the Tapei ramen circuit. Although the guys sitting next to us made every effort to tell us how much more awesome Daikaya was than the slop we were being offered. Toki - Daikaya is apparently a DC ramen rivalry comparable in intensity to Auburn vs Alabama. What ramen do you like in DC?nittanylion said:Oats, you live in Manhattan, right?
