I didn't vote today and don't plan to (1 Viewer)

Voting may be the most over-rated thing people do in life.
:goodposting: Most over-rated things people do in life:

1. Voting

2. Eating lobster

3. 69
Whoa, whoa, whooooooooooa.
 You gotta kill the momentum and do the awkward repositioning. I'd rather focus all my attention on giving or receiving. Multitasking takes away from both.
this is why I prefer '68'.. you do me and I'll owe you one
:lmao:

Couldn't take the time to vote, but did take the time to post an attention-whoring thread about it. Nice priorities.

No vote yet for me. I might stop by if I get the urge to look at local questions that will affect my town but other than that I could care less.

I can't wait for this to be over: get the damn signs off every lawn and stop with the constant phone calls asking me to vote for candidate du jour.

I'm still on the fence; it will depend on how I'm feeling after work. I live 20 minutes from my polling place, it's cold outside, and I'm lazy. NY is already locked down for Obama and there's no real close local races/props that I know of. I'm voting third-party anyway, so my vote is meaningless.
If you're voting third party, it's not meaningless. National vote totals count towards future ballot access, presence at the debates, federal funding, etc. Perot's 92 totals automatically got him into the 96 race without winning a single electoral vote.

Not to mention anyone in a non swing state is "wasting their vote" with either of the 2 main parties.

Kudos to you, sir. I always like to discourage voting. The fewer the votes, the more my vote counts.

Completely disagree.
69 was eliminated in the first round of the tourneyhttp://img.gawkerassets.com/img/17id381urdaggpng/original.png

i've never understood why anyone who voted would want anyone else TO vote.

my vote counts more the less people vote.

I wish less people voted. Most don't understand what they are voting for anyway and couldn't pass a basic test to vote.

I decided last election that I only want to vote FOR something/someone, not against, so I didn't vote then. This elections was more of the same, nobody or nothing I wanted to vote for, so I'm staying home.

this thread makes me sad.....

no voting

no 69

no lobster(this one i don't really care about)

and if you don't vote, shut your ####### mouth and don't complain.

When you vote, you are exercising political authority, you're using force. And force, my friends, is violence--the supreme authority from which all other authorities are derived.

let the third-party voice be heard then

This would seem to me a two way street? Your vote for your candidate counts more, but so does the vote in line behind you for the other guy.

I broke down and voted. Mostly because urbanhack said I was bragging.
I was unaware of this before today, but apparently there's a law that immediately after you vote you're required to announce "I voted!" on Facebook. Now get to it.

I didn't either.

I like how so many voters tell me it's my civic duty, and when I say neither candidate should be in office they say "So vote for the lesser of two evils."

Pretty sure that's not what our fore founders we going for.

And no, I'm not going to waste my time voting for an independent or write in for someone who not only can't win, but doesn't even get a fair shake in the entire process.

People - If you think this, please keep saying it. Scream it from the mountain tops. It makes the foolish that much easier to keep track of.
Yes, I hear this all the time, and have to laugh at it.So, if I don't vote, I can't complain? So does that mean if I don't vote I don't have to pay taxes either? And if I have to pay taxes, then by default I'm allowed to complain.I am exercising my American right to not vote.

I just saw a race in a state senate (nj menendez) on CNN , with less than 1% of the vote in called for the guy who was down in the reporting my 600 votes? Wtf?

About 70 % of live in places where it truly matters very little if we vote.I mean they might as well not hold presidential elections in new jersey, Utah, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, south Carolina, missisipi, Indiana, Oregon, Vermont, Maine, Oklahoma, Texas etc.

Stop being douches, go vote. It's highly unlikely that one of the two major party candidates are the candidate you actually agree with the most, so do some basic research and cast a vote that could actually matter for a third party. We desperately need additional representation options in this country.

I was gonna vote for weed but i got high

I coulda voted and it coulda passed but i got high

Now i'm breaking the law and i know why

Because i got high

Because i got high

Because i got high

I get that. The electoral vote process needs to be reformed at the very least. But that doesn't change my opinion of those that don't vote and then rant and rave about how ####ty everything isThe republican party has lost touch with the voting demographic. That is why they lost tonight. Many of those that don't vote for whatever reason lean right. But for whatever reason they don't vote. Perfect example, is my father in law. He lives in NC. It boggles my mind that he doesn't vote. He's quite intelligent, served in the Korean war & Is STRONGLY republican in nearly every issue. and He's also old school southern, and isn't remotely comfortable with obama's skin color. Yet he chooses not to vote. I don't get it

As much as I love my wife, she gets crazy this time of year. She is not very political but all I heard for 4 days, was how can you not vote, our son is voting. I ask who is he voting for and she gives me an Obama of course..... I'm like how would I know, then she gets defensive, oh you want Romeny to win... I tell her I really don't give a #### who wins but what is it you don't like about Romney vs Obama. She really doesn't have an answer but basically "likes him better".....

I at least try to stay on top of the stuff I don't care about :P We got in a small argument about Republicans wanting a "smaller" government - and she tells me that's not true that makes no sense.

I'm not sure what's happening over in the belljr household anymore
