I got #1 pick. Who would you pick #1, convince me (1 Viewer)

KC running backs seem to get hurt alot that offense rides them hard.
My retort about injury was directly pointed at your statement above."Hurt a lot because the offense rides them hard."

Both of the Priest injures which I pointed out were not a part of fatigue or being worn down; there were freak accidents as a result of a tackle.

That's the only correlation; it has nothing to do with magic.

On top of the fact that your comment really ignore the question of the thread. Who would you take with #1?

IMHO, LJ gets the nod!

Step 1 - understand than Herm Edwards is not a negative for LJ.
And why is that exactly? It's not as much about it being Herm as it is about it not being Vermeil. The last few years KC just fed the ball to their RBs inside the 10 in nearly every situation. Now there are completely different people calling the plays.
Do you really think Herm will pass more?Consider, 2004 (not using 2005 due to the team being behind, requiring more passing)

Jets

Rush attempts: 527, Passing 438.

Chiefs

2004: Rush attempts: 496, passed 561

The other years, IIRC aren't too dissimilar. Also, at least IMO, the Chiefs D continues to improve.

Herm will run more
That's all fine and dandy, but I clearly said "inside the 10".The bottom line is LJ is going from some of the best FF RB coaching in decades to an average coach. This is all coming from a pretty big LJ fan mind you. I was very high on Priest/LJ last year and said Priest should go #1 overall with LJ being cuffed in the 5th/6th, and LJ pretty much single-handidly won me two of my three leagues last year so I've got nothing against the guy. But even as an LJ supporter I'm not so blind as to think that Herm is even on the same planet in terms of putting out FF RBs as Vermeil/Saunders.

In all honesty if ANY current coach in the league had taken over the KC job I would still consider it a downgrade in FF terms (for RBs), and Herm is nowhere near the top of that list of coaches.

I'm having trouble with the "beat on Herm bit" especially as it pertains to rushing ...

During his 4 healthy years under Edwards, Curtis Martin averaged the following:

Carries : 322

Rushing Yards : 1400

Rushing TDs : 8

Receptions : 46

Receiving Yards : 300

Receiving TDs : 0

The total yardage is terrific ... the TDs are less than desirable for an elite fantasy back, but as I mentioned previously LJ is averaging nearly 2 TD's per game in his 15 starts.

My one reservation about LJ is the absence of Tony Richardson. Tony spent 11 self-less years in Kansas City. His departure might speak volumes depending on who they get to replace him ...

You take the guy who has shown in every game he has started and some that he hasn't is the best fantasy runningback and that is Larry Johnson. The guy is a monster. I would love to have any of these guys but we have seen the best of what LT and SA are going to do and in Larry's part time year he has done at least that and this year will do more.

I would go LT2 in a PPR league but not by much.

#1 LJ - Very good upside. That offense can produce a 2000yd back and 25TD, probably won't but the chance is there.

#2 LT - safe pick. Rivers may cause some concern but this guy never stops.

#3 Portis - Quietly finished very high last year along with the key additions to the team.

#4 - Alexander - safe pick. New Contract, will he have the same hunger after losing in the SB?

(Assuming standard scoring)

People drafting in the top 3 this year will live to regret it. Trade to 1.04.
 Although I would trade down to 1.04 with adequate compensation, I don't think I'd regret taking one of the big 3.

LJ is a KC running back.. yes? Then my statement reflects my view that KC runnning backs get hurt. To recap I already addressed the issue of who I would take (LT) and was discussing why i think LJ is a greater risk than LT.

 Sure. name a team who hasn't had injuries. How often has Larry Johnson been hurt?

Of course, he has yet to play a 16 game season, so if that's your concern, understood.
