Aside all from the human toll covid-19 took, one of the many things that I cannot stand post covid-19, is this (seemingly) new business model of retailers holding back inventory whether by design, by making "just enough" or by storing supplies in warehouses as in this article. I fully realize if I were running a business the temptation would almost be too great to pass up but it's such a raw deal for the ever shrinking, middle-class, working stiff like me. My property taxes are way up (again) this year, interest rates are way up, every kind of insurance we carry (property, automobile, medical, dental, vision, etc.) are all way up this year as well. I sure wish my paycheck would go up to match the inflation rate.
