I Now Remember How Much I Hate Fantasy Football (1 Viewer)

Chet - Cancel the off day and bring your team in for practice today. Don't lose the locker room, GB.

Magical Football seasons are won and lost on week1 of the waiver wire.
do you know what really sucks? Scoring well above the average but losing to the #1 score of the week. Now you not only have a loss but you don't get an early waiver pick either.

The only time I EVER look at projections is for IDP/kickers. And even that is rarely accurate.

I think on a one-week basis, fantasy football is 55/45 skill/luck. With each successive week the skill level increases and the luck level decreases.

As an example, I joined a work league with total nubes. I can dominate these guys in my sleep. But I'll lose week 1 unless Victor Cruz gets 17 points. Me finishing top 2 or 3 is 95% likely. Me finishing first? Probably 65-70%.

Winning the league requires tons of luck. Doing well (top third) consistently requires skill.

Don't fret one week. Stay the course. But don't rely on FBguys for your projections. Pick a starting lineup of what you feel is your best lineup and roll them out every week. Don't play matchups.

I relied heavily on FBG projections and software this year in both of my leagues. The Rate My Team feature had me as odds on favorite in both leagues. I am the only FBG subscriber in either league.

I am well on the way to having the low score in both leagues. How can they be so bad?

:ptts:
Just walk away and begin to enjoy more of your life and the game of football again (minus the fantasy).

This is like going to the track, not knowing anything about horses, then complaining that the tip sheet you bought out front didn't bring you thousands. I do the exact same thing you do GBChet, sometimes it pans out, sometimes it doesn't. Considering I do -zero- work and invest a whole $25 I think for the information, I consider it a good value.
Am I wrong to see my little subscription amount as a way to pay FBG a bit for the FFA? I spend a bunch of time here, and often am using a browser w/o ads, so for a bit of $$$ I get FF info and the FFA. :2cents:

That's exactly how I see it. I feel obligated to purchase a subscription.

Timchochet should feel the same way--although in his case he should purchase a half dozen subscriptions to equal out all the bandwidth he sucks up.

BTW, if you use FBG projections and tools, it follows that they are going to rate your team the highest.
Shrinks have a fancy term for this, but I'm too dumb or lazy to look it up.
Cognitive dissonance? My favorite concept from PSYC 101.

This whole thread is hilarious.

Nope. That's how I look at it.

Team 1 where I supposedly really dominated the draft:

QB

Luck

Newton

RB

Charles

Foster

Martin

Jennings

Lamar Miller

WR

Cruz

Vincent Jackson

Decker

TE

Pitta

Def

Bengals

Bills

K

Hauschka

1 qb, 2 rb, 2 wr, 1 flex std scoring
The fact that you drafted a Giant shows that you didn't really think this through.

I actually went 1-2. I eked out a win in one of the leagues when my team didn't quite suck as much as my opponent's team.
