I think I believe him over the media (1 Viewer)

I believe Rodney.
So do I. If might be different if Suh didn't have a history of questionable play in other games this year also, but he does. Where there's smoke there's fire..
Who cares?Did someone in this thread actually say "He's mean"?The Lions have been the NFL equivalent of a punchline for years. No one has taken them serious so they're pissed off, and I can't blame them all that much. Changing the culture of a team that's been so bad for so long may require some creativity. Suh is finally giving them a little bit of edge, but I still think he needs to make more happen on the field.
Let's be clear. I have no problems with the Lions having confidence and playing inspired, however, they need to control that emotion on the field and not let it translate into a myriad of personal foul flags and cheap shots. Suh is a beast and a great player, but he needs to be careful not to get the "dirty player" reputation. Twisting a QB's head and hollering for the cart after a QB goes down isn't going to earn his any brownie pts from other players. Now you might say "who cares" but the players are a pretty tight fraternity, and that's just something you don't do.
except for kickers! :P

Ok, so me and my boys will make up stuff about you. Little smoky in your office? I wonder if that's how the whole Obama birth certificate thing got started!? That must also be true!?
Odd comparison. I don't think it's a valid one.

i was simply showing that just because people say it doesn't mean it's true.

If it was one team or player complaining then I could buy your argument.

You guys sure you weren't looking for the European Football forums? This thread would fit in nicely with the whining that goes on there.

Do you think Suh thought "Gee, I'm gonna grab Ryan's facemask and hold onto it for dear life in hopes that his neck snaps off if I get a chance?" We see facemask graps happen MANY times each week, and to think that anyone does it on purpose in order to hurt another player is asinine. Did you see the play? He was reaching out to snag Ryan as he was being blocked and pushed away. Half the time, the Defensive lineman are getting their heads wrenched in the opposite direction (Olineman are always getting their hands up in their facemasks, pushing their heads away) when being blocked and simply reach out to grab someone, anyone, in order to make the play regardless of whether they can really see what is going on. If Suh grabbed and wrenched Ryan's facemask in a pile, now THAT is grounds for complaint/ejection...but he didn't, it was at FULL SPEED and in the heat of the play. If Suh himself STOMPED on Ryan's ankle, that is grounds for complaint/ejection...but he didn't.As for the "yelling for a cart", we have no idea the real context behind the words. Did he say those words? When exactly did he say them? What was his tone? What tone would "Rodney" (hilarious by the way, whether Suh did it on purpose or not) hear by default? (negative toward Ryan of course). He could have been making a reference to Monty Python's "Bring out your dead" with Avril before anyone realized the extent of Ryan's injury (only missed two plays by the way) and Roddy walks by and gets his feelings hurt because "hey, Matt is my friend".

Lol if you believe Suh you have no people skills whatsoever. That guy was not only stuttering like crazy but clearly danced around the issue when someone asked him what he said when Matt Ryan was down.

%&*$! I have a friend that stutters all the time! At least I THOUGHT he is my friend, until now. You mean all this time, he's been lying to me? Can you please share more of your "people reading skills" with the rest of us? My world is crashing in on itself with all this ground breaking, brain bruising information.

So you believe Suh, and I offended you. Got it.

It was pretty sweet when Suh ripped off Anthony Davis' helmet and was talking trash to him all week only for Davis to dominate the matchup in the Niners game.

Just to be clear, the 2:50 mark in that video is what I was talking about They're asking Suh if he SAID anything to the QB, a simple NO would have gotten its point across. But instead, he flips out and starts to explain how the QB fell and just goes on a rant.

I don't got a problem with Suh talking smack or even playing dirty to be honest, he's like the biggest and baddest dude in the league right now but damn, just admit it and move on. Look at Hines Ward. Call him dirty and he laughs it off so people don't bug him about it. Suh just continues denying, defending and referring to video evidence and it's just going to make the media want to go after him. He's young though, he'll figure it out eventually.

Geez I don't know about you guys but I'd rather have a teammate that people think is nasty and scary than a guy my opponents respect as a nice guy...

Roddy White needs to concentrate on not dropping easy passes rather than trying to call out a guy being overly passionate about trying to get to the QBs. Yeah, he maybe a little over the top but all the great DTs had a nasty side to them.

Ndamukong just needed to come out and say to the media that he said it but it's just trash talking. Nothing more, nothing less. Then spin it and say, "People don't always mean what they say... Mr. Reporter, do you always mean what you say? Didn't think so."

They are talking about this on NFL network right now and I can't help but wonder how is this even a story? They're getting on Suh for something he SAID after a play where the opposing QB got injured by his own player...seriously, who cares? It'd be a little different if Suh was actually responsible for the injury but he had nothing to do with it. I'm sure players talk all kinds of junk out there on the field, it's part of the game.

So basically Suh said something and hurt someone's feelings. The wussification of the NFL has gone too far.

That's what bothers me the most. You're a DT, just take the nasty role and run with it. Throw a little political correctness in there to avoid a visit with Roger and call it a day. Sitting there trying to save face is just going to keep this thing going.

Agreed, Big Wussin Deal.. OOOH he "may" have said something. And Atlanta complaining about it is comical, they've been known for there offensive line taking shots. Then on top of it saying they were kicking Ryans feet, but clearly video shows they were no where nearhim, so you'll believe whatever they say even if video shows they lied about at least 1 part of it ?, nice..And a mean spirited defensive player?, Yah humm I would hate to have 1 of those on my team, sheesh Iwant 10more just like that an have the other team fear me, looking over there shoulder, to see where weare an where were coming from, I want more of those guys out there to ramp up my other D players!!!!!!!What someone says on the field means nothing, playing hard an taking a few penalties is but part of the game it's gunna come when your big an nasty like a D Linemen Should be! I'd want my players like that.(this is the NFL, it's a big bad game, can't take it get out)Ill timed penalties on a long 3rd down definatly hurts, but if your playing hard sometimes things happen, don't know that you can just shut it down on a prticular down though, probably goes to "field" coaching.

No sense is trying to debate with Lion fans who are obviously going to stick up for their boy no matter what he says or does. Time will tell I guess who the real problem is. Lion fans would like us to think it's all the other teams and definitely not Suh..

Does anyone have a link to the actual play in question? I saw a clip on SportsCenter and saw neither Suh nor Avril even close to Matt Ryan after he went down. The end of the clip showed Roddy White calmly walking off the field following his o-lineman. If there had been such a grievous act, wouldn't there not have been some sort of scuffle? Did replay show a heated debate/pushing/shoving?

No, you didn't "get it", and it's clearly not worth trying to explain it to you.

This thread.......a lot of owners with 1-6 and 2-5 teams in here.

Guys say stuff all the time on the field. I'd have to believe it is a lot worse. And it's either get your butt kicked or kick theirs.

Suh is a beast. even the rolls on the back of his head have muscles.

And the Falcons are babies. A lot of this is media stirred, but don't go crying to the media. Keep it in house, and take care of it next time you play them.

The video contradicts Roddy's version on all counts.
That is what I'm wondering.Link? If Roddy was THAT fired up over something Suh said, his team mates would have had to try and hold him back from jawing and fighting with Suh and Avril. Unless he's just a suck of a team mate that just wanted to cause drama by giving the media a die for a soundbite.

What, you expect that Roddy should go after Suh? What would that do? First, he may get killed. Second it would be a penalty.

This is the NFL..Pro-Football this is not the Polo Club, or Saturday morning Croquet. Talk has been going on forever in this violent sport. Today players have been babified and always whine and cry to the media. Who cares what players say..if anything was said at all.

Play the game...a Viking player kicked a Packer player as hard as he could in the nuts on Sunday.

Suh and many Lion players were interviewed yesterday and said that never happened..Suh did say it was "Karma" that a Falcon player took his own QB down after all the chop blocks they use. During the week in practice Avril said Schwartz had a film of all the chop blocks used by the Falcon o-line from this season and warned his d-line to be careful.
Wonder if Suh also thinks it was karma that Stafford goes down in the same game that his team took a cheap shot on Ryan.

Yo son get the hell outta here with your sarcasm and smartass remarks.. You're obviously a huge Lions fan, and clearly butthurt that your boy Suh is taking criticism. Be happy that anyone even talks about the Lions nowadays after a decade plus of garbage football. Just because I think Suh is lying, doesn't mean I think he did something wrong on the field.

But he's handling the situation like a scared little girl right now. Shut up with the excuses, admit you talked smack during the game, refute the kicking thing because it clearly didn't happen and move on. He's a grown ### man playing the "well they started it" routine. And as funny as it is that he's taking so much offense to it, it's even funnier that you are doing the same thing.

Are you talking about when Ryan went down with the ankle? Because Ryan had one of his OL step on his foot. How is that a cheap shot?

I don't know about that, but that Delmas hit on the fullback looked pretty malicious. Detroit is getting the same rep as the Titans had. Play hard and sometimes dirty. I won't feel one bit bad when other teams start taking matters into their own hands.

If Roddy lied about the kicking thing, he lost all credibility already. He lied and embellished the story. Roddy has more explaining to do here than Suh. Now we get all this stupid talk about some 'cheap shot', this thread is getting really stupid. Lots of blind Suh hatred going on.

That's definitely fair to say, Roddy played his part in this as well. Lions fans need to get used to this though. Welcome to the wonderful world of having a team that people care about haha. Suh's no different than Romo. From now until the end of his career, whenever Romo loses a game in the final minutes, the media will go in an uproar. Same thing if Suh hurts a player or gets flagged or fined etc. The media will always find their story and if you're lucky, it'll go away after something new happens the next week.

The only part of the video that I've seen shows Roddy calmly walking off the field. Of course I wouldn't say Roddy should go after Suh, that would be asinine from a physical perspective and would certainly draw a penalty. What I AM saying, is that if Roddy was SO fired up over what he allegedly heard/saw Suh and Avril do to Matt Ryan, you'd think he would have had to be held back (for show at least) in defending his downed team mate.I'm neither a Lion's fan NOR a supporter of Suh acting like a raging Rhino and potentially hurting someone illegally. I'm simply calling into question what Roddy is saying, coupled with the "inaction" he took, to back up his fallen team mate. If Suh was shown STOMPING on Matt Ryan's ankle than we'd have a story here, however that isn't the case.

Agreed

I think Suh is......if not dirty, he's at least a little grimy. He maybe isn't Rodney Harrison or Andre Waters, but we've seen him take some shots that weren't necessary.

And I think I am fine with it.

He can make that entire defense tougher over time by getting a few penalties here and there. I think he is the face of the Lions, more than Stafford, and the entire team will take their cue from him. The Ravens take their cue from Ray Ray, and I think the Lions need an identity, and in Detroit, it's weird if that identity is that video game offense.
