I want Tank Johnson on my team (1 Viewer)

Like the discussion.

I think

Other millionaires don't have the public scrutiny to deal with, so they don't get caught or punished as much.

I care about the character of the players on my team.

Tank's crimes, as far as I know, did not bother me that much. One alleged and one not registered in one state, but the other.

Some football players might feel isolated if they did not have any role models like them in the league...

I wonder if you could make three teams/leagues,

1 high character, lunch pale work ethic kind of guys

2 thug, gang mentality, future inmate, selfish types

3 silver spoon better than everyone else do to their high class backrounds

which would be the most successfull? Fan support? Team work?

Come back to your home town Tank...the Cards can use a Pro Bowler. :lmao:
Tank never made the Pro Bowl. And he will never make a Pro Bowl. He is a decent tackle, but he was in a rotation for the Bears. He wasn't even a starter. If he is gets popped for drunk driving, he will probably be suspended for the entire year. Then you have to consider that he was getting in trouble before when he had a job. What happens when he has nothing to do? So he was drinking and driving a couple of weeks after he got out of jail. That was when he announced he was going to be NFL Man of the year. Now he has a whole year before he may be able to play again. What do you think are the chances he will get in trouble before then? Good luck with Tank.

As for teams that have won it all loaded with a bunch of "bad characters"... lots of "bad characters" have won superbowls. Peyton Manning sexually assaulted a female trainer at Tennessee. Ray Lewis has his famous "accessory to murder" tag. Michael Irving is a cokehead and a prima donna. Brett Favre abused prescription painkillers. If we establish that it's possible to win the superbowl with "bad character" guys, then where is the line drawn? How many "bad character" guys are you allowed to have before it becomes impossible to win the big one? There's nothing about "bad character" guys that prevent you from winning superbowls- hell, Philly would have beat New England if only they'd had ten more Terrell Owenses.

Good discussion. In the case of these examples all of these men have been able to right the ship and move forward (for now). None of these men have served any sort of jail time but you did leave out Jamal Lewis from that Raven team. In the case of Tank he has proven that he is not going to reform anytime soon. I would even consider the Manning, Farve and TO type of guys to either be very minor personal issues or in the case of Manning perhaps even a situation where he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I do not see Farve and Manning as being "bad characters". Irving is a malcontent and TO is just a weird dude. Ray Lewis was in the type of trouble that Tank is in but Tank is not going to reform anytime soon. Your examples are good but these are a few guys. What about a team that is loaded with thugs? An all thug team vs. a good guy team hypothetically?
