IDP sites (1 Viewer)

Are there any IDP sites that are free other than FBG? I'm in a 14 team league and it helps to know some sleepers/deep dive kind of guys. Seems everywhere I look it a pay site or a podcast, and I cant pay attention to podcasts very long. Any good suggestions?

FBG is not free. If you are only accessing the free content at FBG you are missing out. Their IDP coverage has vastly improved over the last couple seasons and I would recommend subscribing just for that.

As far as free IDP sites, I haven't found any that are all that helpful. You can find tidbits here or there but anything of true consequence is behind a pay wall.

i am a member here, have been for a while. I just like other opinions, esp with IDP. I use this site as my main source/rankings, just looking for more.

I agree with what everyone else has said. You get what you pay for (or don't), and when you compare the sites with really good in-depth info, this place is right up there at the top of the list. That said, I get the idea of wanting to cross-reference various rankings, etc. I found this list very helpful last year, especially when it came to weekly waiver wire moves. Granted, 80% of the guys listed were the same from list to list, but it helped identify the other 20% (outliers), especially in deeper leagues.

And, of course, keep in mind that some of these are pay, while some are not (and how updated they are currently is going to vary as well).

Go about halfway down the first page, and you'll find it here.

Here's my list of places I check before putting in waivers each week. FBG and DLF are pay, a couple are pay but give you some of the info before the "Pay to continue" button... poke around at those spots and you might find some free coverage. There's also FantasyPros, which averages a few rankings. This season, I won't have DLF but will have IDPGuys/IDP+. I'm looking forward to seeing how they've evolved since I had a subscription a couple of years ago. DLF frustrated me a bit - I always felt there was a ton of knowledge there that they didn't seem to harness and present as well as they could have.

These links are sort of in order of when they released during the in-season week. Articles that showed up too late in the week for my uses didn't get linked - like Norton's weekly article, which came out after my waiver runs.

Anything from Jon Macri is the best non-FBG info you can find. His weekly stats that break down where DB snaps occur isn't anything I've found anywhere else, but wasn't free before last season if I recall correctly. FBG really cleaned up in the past couple of years, snapping up a lot of the best IDP writers.

Just coming out of offseason hibernation... has there been any mention of change in FBG's ROS rankings?

The last 2 seasons they have more often than not been virtually unusable. I take zero pleasure in saying that as the rest of the IDP coverage at FBG's has been outstanding. But the ROS rankings just were not reliable. Two years ago Norton said they had a new guy doing them for the first time and we needed to give him time. Well last year wasn't much (if any) better.

Not sure if others don't use the ROS rankings as much or just gave up on them... but they used to be an integral part of my in season decisions (FA pickups, etc.). Fingers crossed quality control improves this season... but I'm not counting on it. Just didn't seem important enough.

All ears if others have thoughts... or suggestions for how to influence improvement on this.

I haven't heard anything. I agree across the board and have hope.

Thanks Tick. Good to see you again. :hifive:

I fully support Joe, Norton, Bloom, et al here. They do tremendous work. I value it highly. And again, I take no pleasure in criticizing the ROS rankings. But it is silly to ignore the 800-lb gorilla in the room. If the rankings are done poorly (missing players, rankings way out of whack), you begin to just ignore them. And at that point, why bother putting any manpower into it? The old adage, don't do it, if you don't do it right.

I still think the IDP coverage, overall, is outstanding. Just hope they upgrade on whoever handles the ROS rankings this year.
