* "Marino could have tossed 50 touchdowns back in the day....if he had a head coach that called pass plays inside the 5 yard line so he could pad his stats, or if he had a head coach that would run up the score so he could pad his stats."
I'm sure Marino could have tossed 50 touchdowns back in the day....if he had a head coach that called pass plays inside the 5 yard line so he could pad his stats, or if he had a head coach that would run up the score so he could pad his stats.
Marino passed the ball 35.25 attmpts per game when he threw 48 TD's in a season.Brady is passing the ball 33.8 attempts per game.Marino's also got picked off at a rate three times as high as Brady when you compare the two seasons.Marino had more attempts, and did less with them than Brady is doing with his. As it is in any case when you break down the numbers comparing Marino to a quality QB, Dan's problem was himself, not his coaches or team.

Manning could also do this. I will not respect the record if Brady breaks it because his stats did not come from within the normal parameters of competitive play. He has had his stats padded all year long. This is like playing a game of Madden and never running the ball inside the redzone because you want your QB to have a great season. Brady's season is a sham. Brady is good, but his season is a complete sham and will need to be marked with an asterisk for unsportmans like conduct by his head coach.

I'm sure Marino could have also won the SUperbowl, if he just had a coach that wanted to. Tell me, what outside of a 60 minute game clock is outside the normal parameters of play? He watched the fourth quarter, for the most part, last night, and has much of the year. In caseyou haven't watched much this year, they pass, because it's the strength of their game. Does your normal parameter have a doctrine of what you should do? The Chargers ran when LT was hot. The Chiefs for HOlmes. The 'Boys for Dallas. You go to your strength. What's so funny here is that the pass play is generally considered by most to be the riskier play. Yet, you're in aother world.
Ok. I hear you on all this and there are lots of valid points on this theme. Getting busted for cheating is a big deal. It was a big deal when Shawne Merriman and Jason Taylor were battling for Defensive Player of The Year. It's a big deal now. But it's not the end of the world. That's annoying. And it's just as annoying to sweep it under the rug and act like nothing happened.
But we've hit the limit.
Closing this and you can start an official "Patriots Deserve An Asterisk" thread. Put all the New England threads there.
