If I'm winning my superbowl and the other guys team is done... (1 Viewer)

So I limped into the playoffs and now I've made it to the superbowl but I have a dilemma. I'm leading going into tonight's game and all of my opponent's players are done but I still have Matt Ryan. Is it "ok" for me to just sit Ryan to ensure the win (negative points are possible in our league)?

If your league doesn't require a complete lineup to be valid then you should be fine. FYI, if your matchup is close I wouldn't risk sitting Ryan with stat corrections still looming. Ryan has never had a negative fantasy day. I doubt it starts tonight.

depends on league rules. If your rules state that you have to start a full line-up then you should do that. If not, sure leave your QB out of it if you have the game wrapped up

I'm up by a little more than 3 pts, so it is close but ive never had that big of a stat correction

Has anyone ever finished with -3 points?

Yes. Interceptions are -3 pts, sacks are -1 pts and a lost fumble is -3 pts...

But has any starter actually finished with more than -3? If it's for a substantial amount of money and your league allows it, I'd sit him. Otherwise, I'd play him. The crap you'd take may not be worth an insignificant amount of money.

Sanchez definitely had a negative fantasy point day against the Ravens but I don't think tonight's going to be like a Jets-Ravens game.

At least one starter finishes with less than -3 pts pretty much every week. Now, that being said, I'm a little ashamed to say that this is a league comprised entirely of family members and there is no money at stake. But, in my defense, I'm in the superbowl against the league commissioner and multiple time champ...so...

Play him. If you sit him, you will forever be remembered as the guy who sat your QB in the final game and it will taint your victory a bit. If you just play him and win, which is a 99% chance, then you will be remembered simply as the guy who won it in 2011.

My answer would change if this was a money league with strangers on the innerwebs.

Reminds me of the MLB player who sat the last game of the year to avoid the all time strike out record. Don't remember his name.

This.

Well, you guys have made me realize my greed  ...I think I'll play Matty Ice and see what happens...Thanks everyone. And good luck to those still playing!

You have no defense. You have to start him. I'd be ashamed if my family didn't give me crap for even thinking about it.
