If Kolb plays well (1 Viewer)

He took them to the 1 yard line on his first drive, and to the 30 on the last drive before McCoy fumbled. We are still in the third quarter, and although I agree they need to look downfield, they were ready to make it a one score game. That play right there was pretty bad though.
Yeah, but come on. He's just snapping the ball and waiting for McCoy to roll out so he can make the five yard throw. Washington is letting him. He's not throwing interceptions, but he's not playing well. He's not really doing anything. He doesn't look good.
yep, and it wasn't hard for the Skins to adjust to the two point conversion play...

He doesn't look great, I'm not saying that. But all this check down talk is hilarious, the Eagles offense has been using checkdowns as their main weapon since Reid has been the coach. Guy is getting 2nd team reps, hasn't played since week one and has started how many NFL games? Three? People calling him a bust have to be  because we have a long way to go to figure out how good or bad Kolb will be.

Kolb should have been intercepted three times in the time it took me to read 4 replys....WOW.....Where's Eric Hipple ?

Kev

I agree you can't call his career a bust based on this game, or any one game for that matter. But other than throws around the line of scrimmage, he displayed no accuracy. The only reason for optimism for the Eagles offense is the hope that he gets better. If he plays anything like he did today, Philly is in serious trouble.

The thing is though, he could make those throws last year in the two games he played. He had no problem getting it downfield to Jackson and Maclin.Next week will be a better gauge. Chalking today up to being a first year QB, got second team reps all week, having to come in for a game against a division rival whose starting QB knows the Philly O in and out and no doubt assisted in game planning for it.For all the ripping on the guy, he put the ball in Avant's hands at the end of the game and the guy dropped the game winner.

Lots of excuses being made for Kolb in this thread.

He was not awful but he definitely did not play well. He had plenty of time in the pocket and numerous chances to throw the ball downfield and simply wouldnt pull the trigger.

Yes, he has not had a lot of starts under his belt but he's been in the same offense for 4 years, got 1st team reps ALL off season through week 1. Stop with all of the BS excuses. Vick didnt get first team reps until week 2, has been in this offense 2 years less than Kolb, and spent 2 years out of the game sitting in prison. And he's clearly outplayed Kolb to this point. If he (Kolb) wants to be a long term starter he needs to play better. PERIOD.

As a Kolb, Vick, and D-Jax owner I hope that Kolb steps it up while Vick is out. But I also hope that Vick can come back quickly.

Seriously??? He just threw the ball into a mass of bodies. Should have been an easy pick by Landry.

Pretty sure they weren't excuses. What they were were salient observations that have played out. What was funny is all the negative overreactions based on a game where the guy was coming back from a concussion. Lots of people throwing the baby out with the bath water and I thought it was pretty funny, even funnier today.

They were excuses at the time. I said Kolb needed to step up and play better and he's done that over the last 2 weeks.

No they weren't. They were observations in response to people overreacting. Maybe some fans should sit back and comprehend the big picture, and understand Kolb was kept while McNabb was shipped for a reason. He has all the tools to be an above average QB and Phila's system plays to his strengths (accurate, quick release, smart).

I think the Eagles need to decide which way they are going to go right now and trade away kolb or Vick before the deadline to maybe the Bills or another team desperate for a QB.

Considering that Kolb and Kafka are the only 2 under contract beyond this year, I hope it would be Vick. Can't really go into the off-season with Kafka being the only QB under contract.
