If Rodgers struggles again today.... (1 Viewer)

Raider Nation

Devil's Advocate
He is currently the 24th-ranked QB in my league, sandwiched firmly between Mark Sanchez and Kevin Kolb.

The Saints are statistically one of the three worst defenses in the NFL after three games.

The Packers are at home, and pissed. If Rodgers disappoints in this spot, I'll officially be concerned.

I'm worried that the Saints defense is so bad this year and GB's defense is vastly improved that the Packers are going to get out to a huge lead early and run the ball the whole 3rd quarter, thereby lowering Rodgers' ceiling. Matt Ryan went out to a 21 point fantasy start last game and only added 3 points the rest of the game because they ran out the clock. Last year the Packers had no running game at all so Rodgers just kept piling on the points. I'm not liking a big ceiling for Rodgers the rest of the year. I'm trying to trade him for guys like Ryan+RB2 wherever I own him in dynasty, but no takers for that much.

This game projects to be the highest scoring of the week and with good reason. If Rodgers struggles this week then every owner can officially sound the alarm, yes. He won't though, he really won't.

If he struggles this week definitely worry, since the Saints defense is completely AWFUL. He won't, though.

If he gives them a big lead by half he may sit a while so hope he racks up the fantasy points in the 1st half. The Seattle game took a lot of air out of them. Let's see how they respond.

I'm already worried. Rodgers didn't forget how to play QB but he is off his game, the line looks below average, and the play calling is a bit suspect. All of this will more than likely get better but for us Rodgers owners the damage might be done before it improves. The problem with an under-performing stud is you have to play them. It's not the same as when your 6th round flier didn't pan out. A couple of bad games and you can easily bench them. That's why everyone hates CJ2K, they have to start him and he kills their team.

even if he goes off against a team everyone goes off on...how can this prove Rodgers is back?
It doesn't, but the converse would appear to be true. If he fails to blow up this week while at home against one of the worst defenses in the league, it is panic time.

Its panic time if the GB offence doesn't produce - if Benson ends up with 4 Rushing TD's and Rodgers only has 1 today than so be it. At least we know they are in sync.

I'm not. I'll take Rodgers exploding for a half vs. the dinky, here and there stuff in between sacks throughout the entire game.

Saints are last in the league against the run, no? I can see the Packers wanting to get the passing game healthy, but I also wouldn't be surprised to see Benson and Cobb go crazy as RB's to try to keep Brees off the field. As always, the game will dictate the game plan, but I wouldn't be shocked to see the Packers go conservative with some smash mouth football this week.

Teams are shutting this offense down with 2-deep safeties, making passes more than 10-12 yards very difficult. They're doing this because they haven't had to worry about Green Bay's run game, and it amazes me no one figured this out about halfway through last year, but...

At least in the short term, it's dink and dunk-- a lot more completions, but few 'big plays' until Green Bay shows they can run effectively out of their base formation which forces at least one of the safeties closer to the line. So far, even with Benson they can't. They've had to do it out of heavy sets (3TEs, etc). That works, but it makes their offense very predictable.

I just offered him up in a trade for RGIII and LeSean McCoy. Doubt he goes for it, but we'll see. It's not that Im giving up on him, Micheal Bush is my #1 RB:bag:
Yeah, good luck with that.I just got him for Mikel Leshoure. That may sound like highway robbery, but I'm actually not fired up about it. I just let a potential stud, cheap keeper RB walk out the door and now I have to put Roethlisberger on the bench.Point is, pre-season player values are out the window. It'll be almost impossible to interest an RG3 owner in Rodgers, unless it's at a crazy value.A lot of people that missed out on "elite" QBs have since "made due" without one.

If he struggles yes it is panic time, but he won't I fully expect the Packers to win by 3+ touchdowns. Don't expect them to let up either they know that the Saints offense is still dangerous and a 3 td lead isn't safe. Rodgers will jump from 24th in quarterback rankings to 9 in this one week. Count on it

Both teams need to win and are motivated, so it should be a shoot out. Anything under 400 yards and I'm concerned.
