If Team 'A' Drafts Player 'B', he's in my top 5-10 (1 Viewer)

There's not a ton of consensus on the top Dynasty picks. With the depth in the draft, it seems that any of about 15 players could catapult into the top 5 of Dynasty picks if taken in the first 1-2 rounds of the NFL draft. What are the landing spots that could boost a Rookie into the top Dynasty picks?

I think Sammy Watkins and Evans are firmly in the top 5 (3 in PPR?). What other positions/landing spots will get your attention (or a boost into the first round of Rookie drafts)?

I'll mention a few that I think will at least cause a bump in players like Beckham, Cooks, Lee, Ebron, ASJ, Hyde, Sankey, Mason...

Pick
1. Houston Texans
2. St. Louis Rams (from Washington Redskins)
3. Jacksonville Jaguars
4. Cleveland Browns
5. Oakland Raiders
6. Atlanta Falcons if ATL takes an RB in top 3 rounds...top 10? (added based on comments)
7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
8. Minnesota Vikings
9. Buffalo Bills
10. Detroit Lions : If DET takes a WR/TE....top 5
11. Tennessee Titans if TEN take a RB....top 10? (added based on comments)
12. New York Giants if NYG take a WR/TE....top 10? (added based on comments)
13. St. Louis Rams
14. Chicago Bears
15. Pittsburgh Steelers If PIT takes a WR/TE....top 10?
16. Dallas Cowboys
17. Baltimore Ravens If BAL takes a WR/TE....top 10?
18. New York Jets
19. Miami Dolphins
20. Arizona Cardinals If ARI takes an RB....top 10?
21. Green Bay Packers If GB takes a WR/TE....top 5?
22. Philadelphia Eagles If PHI takes a WR/TE....top 5.
23. Kansas City Chiefs
24. Cincinnati Bengals
25. San Diego Chargers
26. Cleveland Browns (from Indianapolis Colts)
27. New Orleans Saints If NO takes a WR....top 5.
28. Carolina Panthers If NO takes a WR....top 10?
29. New England Patriots If NE takes a TE....top 10?
30. San Francisco 49ers
31. Denver Broncos
32. Seattle Seahawks

Nice thread. I like where this is going. Going down the line, Watkins will be a top spot wherever he lands. Likewise, I like Evans landing in Tampa at 7. I could see Ebron landing with Buffalo and being EJ Manuel’s security blanket. Detroit needs help in their secondary so I don’t think they are players in this list. Skipping down to the twenties, a number of good WR’s could starting coming off the board. Philadelphia seems destined to replace Desean for a guy like Brandon Cooks maybe, and I agree he’d be a high ceiling pick. New Orleans pick would also be high ceiling, but remember Stills last year was much hyped in preseason but never really delivered in his rookie season. New England would be a nice landing spot for a WR and could certainly be top 10. Look for Cleveland to draft either a Watkins to go with Carr or Manziel to go with some WR named Beckham, Cooks, or Lee. Anybody starting opposite of Josh Gordon has a ton of upside.

If Tennessee was to draft a RB early, he would likely be a top 5 rookie pick imo.

Whichever WR Carolina drafts will likely move into many people's top 5s.

Ebron becomes a top 6-10 pick in Green Bay or NY Giants.

With Edelman, Amendola, Lafell, Dobson, Thompkins already in place, I'm not sure about this one. It's not exactly a mureder's row that the rookie would need to overcome, but with so many bodies in place already I would doubt the Pats would use a high draft slot at WR, so he'd be at a disadvantage.

I'd get more intrigued if the following teams picked guys at these positions early.

QB - Clev and Minn

RB - Tenn, Arz, Atl, NE, Den and HOU

WR - Det, Pitt, Philly, KC, Car and SF

TE - Pitt, GB and KC

I don't follow Arizona very closely, but I believe they feel they are set with Ellington and Taylor. I would swap out Arizona for Atlanta if you include 2nd round picks.

I really don't think any of them are entrenched in a pecking order. If a stud WR like Lee drops to them, he would quickly climb the depth chart I'm guessing. Or even a Benjamin could slip to them and be the big body they can use to create mismatches, all it takes are precise passes from Tom Brady. I think the situation in New England is always ripe for speculation as Belicheck always seems to devise a new recipe for a high scoring attack.

If Tenn or Atl takes the first RB off the board in the early 2nd, they would have to be rookie #3 on my board.

It's not easy for a rookie WR to step in the first year and be effective. Brady challenges the WRs to a great degree and it's rare for a rookie to be able to handle that. The 2nd year guys aren't entrenched, but it's not because they suck. They had injuries and had much to learn last season. The new guy will have to learn just as much.

Why Tennessee? I've seen this thrown around a couple of times so far but I don't know if that is a very ideal landing spot. To me, the best landing spot would have these qualities:

1. No established starting alternative

2. Strong QB play/passing game

3. Quality O-line

4. Running (or even balanced) offense

5. Team that generally is leading in the 4th quarter (or on the rise to being a team who will lead in the 4th)

6. Lack of established passing down backups

I'm not sure if they are exactly in that order but for me it is close enough. I get Atlanta and they seem to cover a decent number of these traits, but TEN seems to only have two (at best) and isn't exactly a team on the rise.

if the Titans draft a RB early then he is a lock to get drafted in the top 5. No one is scared of Greene.

You need to be guaranteed carries to get drafted high - the Titans are the best bet for that

--------------

People keep talking about the Saints and Pats being good landing spot for WRs - Payton spreads the wealth with his snaps on offense, so I wouldn't want to take a WR there unless it was dominant one. And Brady is about ready for AARP.
