If the Eagles move up to draft Mariota, what team fits Foles? (1 Viewer)

Nick Foles is a decent qb but having watched both Foles and Mariota in college it isn't even close. Mariota will be a far superior qb in the nfl. Mariota is a perfect fit in Chip's offense, he would put up sick numbers there.

I mean IF the Eagles are gunning for Mariotta they might be able to deal 20, 2016 #1 and Foles for pick #1. Maybe 20 52 and Foles gets it done.

TB needs a QB but I doubt they select one at #1 overall.

Lovie is still a defensive coach and hard to see him passing on a DL or OT
From #20 to #1?

No way. Not close. On principle, no team would drop down that far for so little.
Well I don't think they need to get to #1. I think #6 is pretty reasonable. #20, their 2nd and Foles might make the Jets consider a move.

I don't think TB takes a QB and if they do I think Winston will be the 1st QB assuming he passes all the numbskull checks

100% TB's taking a qb. I do agree that it will prob be winston.

There's no way Tampa comes out of this without their QB of the future.

Are the Eagles really considering Locker? And did Kelly really say he thinks he'd be a good QB for them?

Supposedly it was said on the radio. All I can find on the web is one single sentence that the writer seems intrigued by him.

He looks good every preseason and by most accounts he is a very nice good guy, so I can see why some teams might want him as a camp arm but other than that I think it takes a coach's ego wanting to "fix" him.

How come no one is talking about Barkley here? He's just considered no good, no future now?

Report: Rams interested in trading for Nick FolesPosted by Michael David Smith on January 27, 2015, 6:39 AM

...Multiple stories have surfaced this month indicating that Eagles coach Chip Kelly is interested in moving on from Foles, especially if Kelly could replace Foles with his old Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota. The latest report comes from NJ.com, which says that possible suitors are beginning to emerge, and the Rams have interest in Foles.

The Rams have indicated that they would like quarterback Sam Bradford to return this year, but only at the right price. If the Rams can’t convince Bradford to take a significant pay cut from the $13 million he’s scheduled to make this year, they’ll surely release him, and then trading for Foles could make sense.

The question, however, is whether it would make sense for the Eagles. If Kelly is going to get rid of Foles, he has to be confident he can acquire someone better. Unless the Eagles are able to move up in the draft and get Mariota in three months, trading Foles feels like an odd move.

One previously hired and worked eight seasons with Marcus Mariota's current head coach, Mark Helfrich, as part of coaching staffs with the Boise State Broncos and the Arizona State Sun Devils. The other spent his entire career working in spread offense.
:lmao:

Lock it up.

Maybe they're insignificant things independently, but the sum of all of them would lead a reasonable person to believe the Bucs have their sights set on Mariota. I don't see how anyone could come to a different conclusion.

Sorry, I don't buy that. Because the new OC (who just spent a number of years with Matt Ryan) once worked on the same staff as Mariota's college coach means they take him?

And any team that bases their decision on the type of QB their QB coach would prefer deserves what they get.

I'm not saying the Bucs don't take Mariota, but I doubt they've made that decision already (why would they?) and these hires are pretty flimsy (at best) evidence of any intentions.

Fair enough.

They could have hired any type of offensive coordinator and QB coach they wanted.

They hired the OC with 9 years worth of direct ties to Mariota's college head coach.

They hired a QB coach who has significant experience working with QBs that have similar skill sets to Mariota. He ran offenses tailored to those QBs strengths. Those offenses are similar to if not a direct reflection of what Mariota has been running at Oregon.

Tony Dungy has obvious ties to Oregon, Lovie Smith, and the Glazer family. He has been quite outspoken with his positive praise of Mariota.

The Bucs have the #1 pick and an obvious need at QB. Their other option has way too much baggage to be the first overall selection and face of the franchise.

There are 3 scenarios

1) TB takes Mariota. TEN takes Winston.

2) TB takes Winston. TEN takes Mariota.

3) TB takes Winston. TEN takes Leonard Williams. A trade is made by some team to get ahead of the NYJ drafting in the 6th spot. I think JAX, OAK, and WAS are more than willing to deal to move down for more picks. It's just who can work something out.
