If the NFL is concerned with player safety, why don’t they play games on Friday and Saturday? (1 Viewer)

I agree. Only problem is they won’t Saturday because of college football, however I’d love to see it either Friday, Sunday and Monday or Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday as I’ve really liked the weeks they’ve had a Tuesday game. Hell even go Friday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday lol

Basically, In the 60s They agreed not to play on Friday and Saturday not to conflict With high school and college in exchange for not being pressed for violating antitrust rules.

Makes sense with Friday too. Didn’t think of that for high school. Knew Saturday’s was because of college but didn’t know about high school but like I said it totally makes sense

This.  They prioritize money over, well, anything else.  Player safety is not #1, nor #2, and probably not in the top 10.

I wouldn't want to harm highschool football(when there is HS football) but college football players don't actually earn anything right now anyway. IMO it makes all the sense in the world for the NFL to play a double header on Saturday nights. College football and the NCAA can go pound sand. If they have a better product they will get better ratings than the NFL. The NFL product would be SO MUCH better if they played on Saturday nights, night and day. Not EVERY THU night game is terrible, but a lot of them are.

If the NFL actually cared about the health/safety of the players they would have enough bye weeks built into the season where THU night games were only played by teams coming off a bye. But the NFL just doesn't care, even if it leads to the fans having better games to watch and more healthy/rested/prepared players.
