This has a lot of relevancy to people trading 2011 draft picks in their dynasty leagues right now. I was pondering trading for a 2011 draft pick from a team that was likely to have an early pick next year in the hopes of nabbing Mark Ingram. But then I began to wonder, though it seems like Ingram is a lock to come out early right now, does that change if there is a lockout in 2011? Will guys stay in school another year and risk injury, or will they sit out of football for a year and risk ending up like Clarett/BMW?
It goes far beyond Ingram. Most of the top draft picks in FF rookie drafts nowadays are guys that left school early. If the juniors stay in school next year, and your league still holds separate 2011 and 2012 rookie drafts, next year's draft could be one of the weakest ever in FF terms. Perhaps you should be looking at trading away your 2011 picks, and if you're thinking about trading for one, is it time to reconsider?
