If there is a lockout next year (1 Viewer)

This has a lot of relevancy to people trading 2011 draft picks in their dynasty leagues right now. I was pondering trading for a 2011 draft pick from a team that was likely to have an early pick next year in the hopes of nabbing Mark Ingram. But then I began to wonder, though it seems like Ingram is a lock to come out early right now, does that change if there is a lockout in 2011? Will guys stay in school another year and risk injury, or will they sit out of football for a year and risk ending up like Clarett/BMW?

It goes far beyond Ingram. Most of the top draft picks in FF rookie drafts nowadays are guys that left school early. If the juniors stay in school next year, and your league still holds separate 2011 and 2012 rookie drafts, next year's draft could be one of the weakest ever in FF terms. Perhaps you should be looking at trading away your 2011 picks, and if you're thinking about trading for one, is it time to reconsider?

I would guess most stay. Being the star on campus should certainly contain enough.. perks to warrant the risk of injury.

Im guessing they come out because when its time for them to declare we wont know if theres going to be a season or not yet.
Agreed. They'd be gambling that an agreement would not be reached in the months after the draft. Unless there is something that I am missing (entirely plausible) I would guess that the number of underclassmen declaring will be similar to most years.

Isn't there some rule that says that they can declare... and then change their mind and continue to play college football if they don't hire an agent?

Also, if they declare for the draft... and there is no draft... couldn't the NCAA restore their eligibility?

I remember reading that the draft would be moved up to late January or February. So there will be a draft held regardless.

:goodposting: Even if there is a lock out, there will be a draft.
