If they both retired today. (1 Viewer)

I feel really bad for those who took Ingram in their rookie drafts. I'm sure they have recurrent nightmares about it all the time...

I still stand by my statement I made prior to the start of the 2011 season that Richardson will have more fantasy points after Richardson plays 8 games as a rookie than Ingram after an entire season plus 8 games. Is that statement still "just being a troll"? What say you Kenny Powers?

Who would have had the better career? Trent Richardson or Mark Ingram?

The Saints came out committed to running the ball vs Carolina.

Ingram got 16 carries, 53 yards. Pierre tore it up in almost half the carries for over 100 yards.

It's great to think about what a Murray - for instance - might have done with that gameplan.

The shame is that we will never see Ingram used as a feature runner. Talkin 20+ carries and a few catches. For Richardson that's going to be a weekly occurrence. Ingram is not a home run hitter....he is the type of guy that needs to get into a rhythm. Consistent carries are big.

It's beyond my comprehension why Ingram keeps getting so many carries when he's clearly the least effective RB on NO's roster. If they hadn't had the recent success they've had, they'd be getting serious criticism for playing the high draft pick over the more productive players. If their season keeps going the way it's gone so far, perhaps that will happen.

As a Pierre Thomas owner, I'm hoping it happens sooner rather than later.

:goodposting: Even with my prior post.Ingram just does not fit in the Saints offense.

Of course we won't see that. Every other RB on that roster averages over 5ypc no matter if they get 3 carries or 15 carries. Why in the world would a team suffer through 12 carries for 26 yards or some stat line like that, hoping that he'll get to 5 yards a carry by the time he hits 25 carries? And FWIW, I don't buy into the idea that he would be a great RB if he just got a ton of carries. He doesn't have great power so it's not like he'd wear a defense down. He doesn't have an elite burst, so it's doubtful he'd break off big runs. I'm not sure how simply giving him more carries improves him as a runner.

It's not just more carries, it's consistent carries, like playing 3 straight series. It's more about getting into a rhythm. And he is a 215lb tank, so making a D tackle him 17-18 times thru 3 quarters would wear on them. But we won't know if any of this is true while he's in NO.

They aren't giving Ingram more carries - they are using him sparingly, in roles that he is best in.It is kind of sad to see such a talented guy, and such a good kid, stuck on a team that doesn't fit him.

I stongly disagree, as does Greg Cosell. He has a great skillset to be a foundation back. The Saints don't need or use one. He is a short yardage back - he is not put in position to average 5 YPC. Put Pierre Thomas in the situations that they put Ingram in, and his YPC dips too.
