If you could have dinner with three football players (1 Viewer)

Barry Sanders

I'd love to buy him dinner to thank him for sparking my interest in fantasy football. He was the most electric RB I've ever watched, too.

Lawrence Taylor

My favorite player growing up in spite of his, erm, extracurricular activities.

Ron Jaworski

I'd like to listen and learn from him. Totally dig his insights. I learn something new from him every time.

Just missed the cutoff

O.J. Simpson

Sam Huff

MJD or Chris Cooley, fantasy enthusiasts

Bill Romanowski

Archie Manning

Barry Sanders - One of my favorite players of all time and a naturally down to earth guy.

Randy Moss - Also one of my favorite players of all time and I think he is pretty down to earth and would answer any questions honestly.

Mel Blount - A nasty dude with strong opinions and changed the game of football. Would love to get his take on the modern game. Also one of my favorites of all time.

1) Earl Campbell RB "The Tyler Rose" The best RB I have seen starting in his college yrs... A search for cowbell should have his picture.

2) Brett Farve (not counting Reggie "Minister of Defense" White) was such a blessing for GB. A few times I seen glimmer from three QB's but Farve was the real deal.

3) Doug Plank The third is actually to hard to name. Im goin with the guy a defense was named after (plus I meant him yrs back at a hardware store) Id prolly enjoy having someone like Jene tag along more because if any questions were to be asked, Id want someone w/ knowledge askin em

I kinda agree with you on Jaws though. If Bill didnt have the spitting incident maybe but not so thrilled w/ the rest. I hope you know Colley would want you to try a peanutbutter, ham & mustard sandwich.<-- no thanx

Viking fan so...

Choice 1: Allan Page (first defensive MVP who redefined the Tackle position and is now a MN Supreme Court Justice; Hall of Fam); Jared Allen (Guy is great and seems funny as hell); John Randle (Great DE and Hall of Fame)

Choice 2: Chris Carter, Randy Moss, Ahmad Rashad--three of the greatest receivers and all interesting guys.

Lawrence Taylor- the "locker room" stories would be entertaining

Jim Brown-in my opinion the greatest football player ever

Art Donovan-what a story teller

and a coach...Lombardi-honest,straight forward and very intelligent, not just in regards to football either.

LB Jack Lambert - Very few loved the sport more or played it better.

QB Steve Young - What a fine, fine player and person.

TE Tony Gonzales - To share insites on today's league.

Coach Jerry Glanville wasn't a player, but I'd invite him any way.

Sorry, you can only invite 3.

Answer One: Roger Staubach, Troy Aikman, Tony Romo - great stories from each, things I could talk about later with family and friends

Answer Two: Michael Irvin, Nate Newton, Alfredo Roberts - stories about the Cowboys "White House" of the 90s, things I could never share with another person ever

First two are easy for me:

1) Peyton Manning: I think he understands the game as well or better than any QB who has ever played the game. He can manipulate defenses and has great fundamentals. Also seems down to earth and funny in a goofy type way. Would love to hear advice on how to teach my kids the game in the way that he and Eli learned it.

2) Brett Favre: The ulimate warrior, played more games and trashed talked with more DL twice his size than any QB I can think of. He's hilarious too, I'm sure you've seen some clips of him cracking jokes in the huddle and on the sidelines....would be very enjoyable to listen to the stories and have a few laughs.

Third one was tougher, but I'd like to sit down with.....

3) Deon Sanders: I love listening to Prime talk. He is a very upbeat guy, probably one of the most gifted DBs to play the game. I'd like to hear about how Prime tried to manipulate the QBs while the QBs were trying to figure him out too. I think he can teach a lot about the game of life too.

As I like to have a good time and laugh a lot, I would go with current players Ray Lewis, Chris Cooley and Clinton Portis.

A more insightful dinner would be Ed Reed, Emmitt Smith and Jim Kelly.

For coaches, definitely Jimmy Johnson and or Ditka.

Yes I am a serious "U" homer.

Kind of a historian, so give me the guys who have the most regaognized trophies named after them:

Vince Lombardi

Jim Thorpe

John Heisman

Bernie Kosar - I'd have to spring for the check, and would probably wake up in a dumpster at 3 AM, but we'd have one helluva night.

Ernest Byner - Just to say, "It's not your fault." ....... "It's not your fault." ....... "It's not your fault."

Josh Cribbs - Just love the way he plays the game and he seems like a genuinely good person.

Steve Young

Jerry Rice

and a surprising choice:

Bill Bates from the Cowboys. He wasn't the most talented guy, but he left it all on the field. In my teenage years, he was my hero.

Jim Kelly - A superb human being, a great all time player.

Nat Moore - A really great guy, one of the all time greats in Dolphin history

Zach Thomas - He was a tireless worker and the ultimate competitor.

Retired -

Mike Singletary

Ronnie Lott

Rodney Harrison

Active -

Patrick Willis

Wes Welker

Jared Allen

I'd go with the retired guys if I had to choose between the two groups.

Can we go back in time?
Well Payton is listed.
Hmm.. forgot he was dead.OK -

**** Rauch

Darryl Stingley

Jim Thorpe
Uh, how old are you?
:lmao: Just want to add that Rauch was one of the few true renaissance men the NFL had. He could probably speak intelligently about anything, not to mention he was at the center of one of the first real pro football's scandals. Thorpe's reasons should go without saying.

Great thread...

Rather than the all-time greats, I would go a different direction. Like - WTF happened, what would you do differently, etc.

1) Todd Marinovich

2) Ryan Leaf

3) Tony Mandarich

In 5 years add JaMarcus Russell and Matt Leinart to this list. They don't have regrets yet.

Great thread idea ... I'll play as well

Active

- Ricky Williams

- Hines Ward

- Kevin Faulk

No longer active

- Eugene "Big Daddy" Lipscomb

- Ernie Holmes

- YA Tittle
