If you don't have a self close toilet seat, you should (1 Viewer)

Had one installed a few years ago when I re-did a bathroom and fell in love; replaced the other seat in the house right away.

Will never go back

-easy install

-very cheap... $20-$40 will do the trick

-no slamming of seat (kids can't can't get their wieners slammed with a regular seat)

-don't have to handle the dirty seat much, just tip it over and it will do the rest for you.

The only down side is most people still don't have them. So when you go to someone elses house you constantly slam the seat cause you expect it to close slowly.

Make this your weekend "project" if you don't have one and help out us people who have already been enlightened.

At first, I thought this was a new thing...I've always called them "soft close," not "self close," but I agree with you 100%. They're the best. My only concern is that I feel like the soft close mechanism wears out over time. Our oldest one goes down a lot faster now. Still soft, but not as soft.

Also, if you want to revolutionize the already revolutionary, consider getting one of THESE. It's only like $10 more than the regular ones. Not worth it for powder rooms, etc. but in a master bath, it's PHENOMENAL to be able to stagger into the bathroom and take a pish without turning the lights on.

I have one of these...that no longer works because some a@@ hole kid broke it. And I'm not sure how. Can't have nice things with kids around...FACT!

Yeah, it's not self closing, but soft closing. And they are pretty sweet. When it comes time to replace I'll get one of them fancy nite-light ones.

I love mine by lol at calling it a weekend project. It takes 5 minutes to replace. Also, I have 3 boys, wife like wooden seats but eff that. These close nicely and clean easy since the are plastic. Wood ones didn't hold up to the bad aim of little boys. Replaced them way too often. I've had the self close for a couple years now seem to be in the same shape as day 1.
