If you have extra space and don't grab....... (1 Viewer)

James Starks, you will be very pissed later.

Need I say more?

Wow, a highlight video that makes an athlete look good. What will they think of next? I hear the Gino Torretta video was amazing.

...so let's add a few more caveats to make the earlier statement a bit more realistic:

If you have extra space...

And you are otherwise ok at RB...

And you can wait until Week 13 for a guy...

And you are willing to take a flyer on a guy who has not seen the field all season...

...then James Starks may be a good pick-up.

Ok, I am willing to agree with that statement, especially if you are in a dynasty league. However, given the current injury rates in the NFL for RB1s, you might be better advised to grab one or two handcuff guys who will see the field sooner.

Note: I am not hating on Starks - he had a good career at Buffalo - and some solid upside. However, I would like to see him transition that upside to the NFL against much better defenses before declaring him the "Second Coming of...{insert favorite RB here}". Moreover, GB's O-line is in pretty rough shape, so Starks is unlikely to get those same types of gaps (at least this year) that allowed him to be so successful at Buffalo (IMO).

Someone asked about increased snaps:

Not likely right now. According to GB coaches, he is still a couple of weeks away from seeing the field. The biggest issue of note on progress (this week) is that he is playing "Adrian Peterson" for the practice squad. This is not GB being condescending, as they seem to respect his talents and ability to simulate APs running style...in practice.

Corey Oooof

There have been numerous threads about this guy(hell he's been on three of my teams)

QB: Rodgers, OrtonRB: Jackson (Steven that is), Mendenhall, Wells, K-WilliamsREC: Owens, Bryant (Dez that is), Breaston, Mike-T, Jacoby-J, Jacoby-F, James-J, Ajirotutu, MurphyTE: Gates, DreesenK: ScobeeDEF: Raiders, BrownsDropping: Browns, Jacoby-J, Dreesen for Gerhart, Starks, & McMichael in precisely one minute. So yes, I fit your aforementioned criteria. It's painfully obvious that Starks will get a shot and this day soon. Besides the fact that the entire coaching staff has consistently raved about this cat; he could have and most of the experts stated "should" have never been activated from the PUP. Not to mention that the guys ahead of him are not getting it done.Sleep if you want to with that "hasn't played a game yet since his Jr year" if you wan't to. Curse yourself out later.'Nation....

Curious how fast he is... it seems like it takes him some time to get into an extra gear. He actually looks more like a WR than a RB in the open field.

On the contrary my dear Watson.......Packers coach Mike McCarthy said RB James Starks has looked "dang good" in practice.

It's a stark -- no pun intended -- contrast to what the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Bob McGinn felt, as the beat writer said Starks looked "several weeks away from playing in a game." It's possible McGinn said that because Starks has been practicing mostly with the scout team. Ultimately, even if McCarthy thinks Starks looks "dang good," the running back is a longshot to see significant snaps this season.

John Strakes, huh? Looks good. The question is, why are we just now hearing about him?
I heard about him about five weeks ago from Fantasysharks and picked him up; then dumped him about two weeks ago to make moves; and now am picking him up. 6 minutes ago was my leagues last chance for waivers. 'Gotta swing for the fences as I do have the space.'Nation..........

Missioned Accomplished!

'Just got Starks, Gerhart, & McMichael. Cha-Ching!!

Good Luck Naysayers.

Although I am not a ref, I am throwing in my yellow flag here:

* bushisdaman - personal foul, unsportsmanlike conduct: bringing in politics somewhere it has absolutely NO place

* Corey O - personal foul, unsportsmanlike conduct: biting on the antagonistic comment

These penalties offset - resume conversation back on topic as to Stark's value to GB and when he might see the field.

Aren't you ahead of the curve!

I remember back when Swervin' Curvin Richards was playing "Barry Sanders" in practice... That worked out well.

I like this kid, but not this year until maybe late.

He has good vision, and above average balance/agility. I see his pad level is a bit high, so I'm not sure how many of those hole will be there for him in the NFL and he will get through them at the level he is at. I could be wrong, but the eyeball test is pass, but not blow me away pass

He has my attention, but I'd rather have my second TE/5th wr in redraft.

Penny league? Hardly, anyway what I am saying is hyping up a guy and showing video of what he did against a bunch of college guys (Most who are not worthy enough to play in the NFL) is not enough substance to put forth a convincing argument for your case of Starks and why I should waste one of my 6 bench spots on him. We need a little more to go on than that if you are going to rehash an old topic.

I would love to have a side bet with 'Nation on whether or not Starks gets 30 carries in the next 7 games. I'll take the under. Paypal preferred. I had this guy on my roster in 4 of my leagues and have subsequently dropped him in all that were re-draft. I admit he has potential value in the years to come, but barring injury has little to no value this season. And when Corey O said that Jackson and Kuhn have not been getting it done, that may have been the case earlier in the year, but Jackson has been quite productive in the past 4-5 weeks.

So, let me get this straight: You first heard of James Starks in Week 6, from FantasySharks (of all places) and you're in here bragging about it?

If you have something new to add regarding Starks, add it to the already extensive threads dating back to the off-season.

Don't start a new thread like this if you want to keep your dignity.

hmmmm, no.No one comes off of not playing for two years and picks up pass blocking in the NFL

which is something that BJ does very well.

BJ will keep his job, get the majority of time on the field. Starks - 3-4 carries a game, perhaps. Because BJ has been getting the job done
