On the Tarmac as we speak, will be at the residence inn on the outskirts of Downtown Durham until Saturday. 

Any must hit up bars? Most everything else will be taken care of, though good restaurant recommendations are always good to have.

How is Federal (bar)... Seems the closest decent spot to my hotel.

durham is a big area, Google up the American Tobacco Campus, piles of drink and eats there.

American Tobacco campus has live bands all summer every Thursday in the grassy area, but last Thursday was the last show of the season. Like Chemical X said, there are lots of drink and eats there.  Fullsteam Brewery is always hopping, and there are several bars and eateries surrounding it. Pizzeria Toro has great pizza. Foster's Market has great breakfast.

If you're looking for a late night ####ty dive bar filled with drunken sorority girls riding a mechanical bull, Shooters II is the place to go.

The Federal is supposed to have a pretty good beer list, and I've heard good stuff about Fullsteam Brewing.  It's been over a decade since I actually lived there, so my firsthand knowledge is a bit dated at this point.

Well, I'm at The Federal now.  Yea, good beers. I'm drinking bourbon though. 

I'll wade "downtown" another night, but this place and a couple other  bars are a block away from my hotel. Guess I'm right by Dukes campus. Was here visiting the school about 25 years ago.

Was very productive and a good amount of fun. 

I'll post some places that I hit up, though it was very much work oriented.   Some cool spots though. I look forward to going back.
