I'm on line for Logan Paul merch at 5:00am. AMA (1 Viewer)

Just got home. Kids were happy. Got them nothing they wanted bc everything was gone. Did the best I could. They are both wearing it now.

He may be a cool dad, but I don't think this makes him a particularly good dad.  A good dad would teach his children that this person's merchandise is guaranteed to not be worth the trouble he's going through to get it and that they would be better off without it.  Instead, he's helping this YouTube personality rip off his kids (and himself).
Prob right. But not my parenting style.

Asked my 10 and 13 year old about him. They said they didn't watch him because he swears too much. I watched the posted vid, he does. Nice parenting. ?  Have you watched him before?
Yeah, I don't care about my kids hearing bad words.

Also, the line went five blocks down and snaked back around to the original block. Most insane thing I've ever seen. Feel bad for the people at the end.  They have zero chance.

There are few greater pleasures in life than making kids of that age genuinely excited and happy.  They're not old enough to be jaded and they still look at the world in simple terms full of wonder.

Good on you Acer!

Just watched his 2016 year in review whatever it's called, clip I guess?  He seems like an energetic, positive dude who doesn't mind trying new and crazy things.  All things considered, I kind of dug his whole schtick.  Please by the look of it, he's fit and promotes healthy habits and working hard.

Does this guy do minecraft videos? If not, I'm not surprised I've never heard of him. That's all my kids want to watch.

No, but when Stampy has a pop up shop I'll let you know
Good on you. My son has a Stampy shirt but we were able to buy that online.

These days all he is talking about is Roblox.

We tried GB. Apparently this merch is not good enough for them.
Funny thing about this was by the time I got there, all they had was stuff on the site. But like I said, they loved it and both seemed to be very appreciative.

You know who showed her appreciation, Mrs. Acer. Got some dots last night.

I'd never heard of this dude before seeing this thread a while back.  Watching the news last night--I saw a story about him.  Sounds like he got himself in hot water for putting up a video showing a person that had committed suicide in a forest in Japan.  Definitely seemed like a d-bag thing to post the video.  Sounds like he issued an apology but it seems like this might not disappear that easily.

I saw the episode in question. In this day of recording your life, I do not know where the gray area is  I don't think he went in knowing he was going to find a dead person. It was called a suicide forest though.

Still pissed I woke up early. Spent close to $300 on merch for the kids for the holidays.  They love this guy. And he has become very rich vlogging.

I hadn't heard of this jagoff either. But that was straight up jackassery.

Right on.  I don't really understand the big appeal of vloggers/influencers like this--but his apology seemed to indicate that he understood his mistake and was remorseful.  Being that you mentioned that you watched the episode in question--and you seem to know a decent amount about him--my question is--does he stream these videos live or are they pre-recorded and then posted?    If he posted it after it was recorded and is aware that many of his followers are children--that just seems beyond despicable to me.

these are the new TV stars. Same as the teen heartthrobs that were on the cover of Teen beat on your sister's wall collage...just a different medium. Kids/tweens don't watch TV anymore, youtube give them tons of unscripted, uncensored content.

however, yea, in most case, this video was shot and edited before it was uploaded. Thats really the issue. You have these knuckle heads in control of their own delivery platform, so if the kid is dumb enough to film it, you can be sure he's dumb enough to post it. I mean how many idiots are caught b/c they filmed and posted their own illegal activities? Content delivery is in the hands of the star now, not the old TV network executive and his legal team.

My kid was watching some youtube chick on the main TV the other day name "Lizza" something

I sat with him and was like "mmmm, she's pretty hot, I can hang with this" It went from that, to "this chick is a ####### moron" in 2.5 episodes and I had to tap out.

All her act was about snorting, making dumb faces and dancing with quick jump cuts. Pure mind numbing, but my kid loved it.

As adults, maybe we should be more discriminating in what we let our kids watch. That's not directed at any individual but the country as a whole.

No, he is not remorseful. He is a greedy, opportunistic dbag. He pretended to be color blind for clicks ffs. Anyone who clicks on his vids or buys his merch should be freaking ashamed.

Videoed and edited. But he does not edit himself. Not that this takes the onus (spelling) off him

He does not need extra clicks. He gets millions a day. Doesn't mean he is not an opportunistic dbag. But it was not for clicks.

My 10yo daughter got one of this dude's logo T-shirts for xmas... I asked her if it was him (he has a brother that is apparently just as popular); she said that it was and that she turned off the video before the dead people were shown... From what I have heard that does not seem possible :(

My knowledge of this incident is limited to a story I heard on NPR this morning that was less than 5 minutes. The part the stuck with me is that this guy is 22 and gets paid (I think) $70-80,000 for a promotional tweet (or maybe it was instagram post) and up to $150,000 for a promotional vlog.  I've never seen or heard the guy and hopefully never will, but my hat's off to him nonetheless.

You only have a say until they are like 8 or 9
Not really. Parents pay for internet and phones. Spending time with kids and sharing in other forms of entertainment, leisure so kids become able to make more intelligent choices when left on their own. It takes some effort but it's the job of adults to shape kids, not just throw their hands up because a kid turned 9.

My mother felt the same way. She set rules for me like no toy guns and wasn't too pleased when I got into rap music and horror movies as a kid.  Influence all you can but kids will watch whatever they want to (and even stuff they don't) unless you lock them in a room by themselves with only what you decide and that's only going to have a rubberband effect.  That was the case before everyone had a TV/VCR/Record Store/Walkman/Theatre in their back pocket.

Every parent sets rules and their kids break some of them but it doesn't mean it parents should just give up and let their kids do watch/listen to whatever they want.

Also, don't you think there are kids who are more influenced by their parents than you were? Kids often learn to appreciate things like reading, art, music, etc from family.

My 8 year old watches zero tv but watches tons of these dumb YouTube videos. I'll never understand it.

I saw an online report of the incident.  Someone disecting the original video with clips.  There was nothing light-hearted or half-assed about it.  It was sick and disturbing.  They knew the purpose of the forest.  They played it up as though they hoped they didn't see a dead body, but it was clear that's what they were looking for.  They found it and and they feigned disgust.  Almost immediately, they were cracking jokes about it and laughing with a dead man's body hanging from a tree five feet from them.  Their jokes and laughter continued back to the car in the parking lot.

It's the kind of thing that will stick with me.  There is something wrong with this guy and his friends to do what they did.  This was not a prank.  This was not fake.  It was serious and it was horrible.  I hope this guy loses all of his money and falls off the face of the Earth.
