MFL software has an option in the commish panel to view all bids (including losing bids) or just winning bids. What do you say? Are non-winning bids top secret or no big deal?

Vote above!

Edited to add important note: in MFL software the commish can see your bids no matter what. This means that one league member has access to all bids.

There's an option that requires the Commissioner to turn off his ability to see the waiver wire.

We had a Commissioner who ran our league with this feature on for years. We never knew this could be turned off. Neither did he, he claimed. Led to a total #$%#storm. Have him turn it off.

Ohh yeah, that is off. Good heads up. This is a different issue, however. Not the commish seeing the bids beforehand, but all league members seeing both winning and losing bids after the waiver period is over, is the issue in question.

Winning bids in MFLs auction format are always just slightly higher than the highest losing bid anyway, based on whatever the set dollar increment is. Its not really a secret even when its hidden from view.

That's not how it's ever worked when I used MFL. It's not like eBay - if you bid $100 for a player, and the next highest bidder is $3, you get him for $100, not $4.To the OP: There's no right or wrong answer. Whatever your league prefers. I like having all the bids revealed, allows for the possibility of some strategic bidding later in the year (if you pick up on others' tendencies) and also some nice trash talk when you outbid someone else by $1 or something.

I am the Commish and ran the league for years allowing me to see everyone's bids after waivers were processed. I didnt realize everyone else couldnt see them either. I just assumed we all had that ability. Did some digging and figured out how to shut it off for everybody including myself. Dont assume your commish is just lying. The setting is very hard to find.

Can you post the "how to" on how to turn that option off for commissioners?

when you are in the commish area, go to abilities link under set up.there you can check at the bottom of page, commish gives up rights.just let teams know that if they need you to do something for them they will need to give you their password.also there is a column for view prieviously processed waivers.if that is checked every owner can view all bids submitted and not just the winning bid.if it is unchecked and the commish has given up rights then noone will be able to see it.we personally have access for all owners to view all waivers and not just winning ones just to make sure there were no glitches or errors with the site.

The bolded is the issue at hand. Even if the commish has "given up rights" he/she can still see all blind bids, including bids that do not win. The commish cannot see the non-winning bids when logged in with the player login, but when you switch to the commish login, all bids are available to the commish. From the MFL help center:_____________________________________________________________

How do I view all previously processed Blind Bids?

Answer: The commissioner can view all previously process waivers in the For Commissioner > Previously Processed Waivers.

To allow owners to view the same previously processed waivers report that appears under the For Commissioner you will need to enable this setting in the For Commissioner > Setup > Abilities Setup. Check the boxes for each owner to be able to view this report and the report will then appear in the Reports > Franchise > Previously Processed Waivers.

Note: If you only wish for your owners to see the awarded players (and not all requests or bids) you will not want to enable this setting and instruct them to only view the Reports > Franchise > Transactions. Here they only can view all Waiver Moves and their own individual requests or bids.

Look at it like this, if you are in a MFL 12 team league, there are actually 13 logins. 1 for each player and then the commish login. If the commish has selected "give up rights" this means that he/she cannot log in and view your bids before waiver process.

What we are talking about here is after waivers process. None of the 12 logins can view the non-winning bids, but the commish (who is also a player) can log in and view those bids. This means that 1 player in 12 has access to information the other 11 do not. If the commish gets to see all bids (winning and non-winning), is it fair the other 11 do not?

Hint: Waiver requests and trade proposals are only displayed to the franchise owner(s) directly involved. Other franchise owners cannot see those records

Other franchise owners cannot see those records, but the commish can when logged in as commish. If you read above, the commish has access to all blind bid waiver requests. The commish is also a player. This means that one player has access that 11 players do not. You dig?
