Indefinite New England Patriots Thread (9 Viewers)

I’d like to resign Gilmore. He was great. Show some loyalty and keep Gilmore.
He's already signed, but is only due $7 million in salary this year. He got a lot of his money on the front end (and a $5 million raise last year). Word is he won't play out the last year of his contract without a new deal. Not sure what he wants for $$$, but it obviously is way more than $7M a year.

Buzz that WR is next on the list and the Pats have been talking to multiple options. Also interesting that Brown, Smith, Godchaux, and Mills are all clients of agent Drew Rosenhaus.

Per Schefter, Patriots already have spent their most guaranteed money on free agents in any offseason over the last decade.

And listen to Folgers and mazz without a technical audio engineer... to listen to the over abundance of ppffffff in any proununciation of a t or p. It is designed to annoy us. For Folgers and mazz you are ignorant.

We get it - you hate them.

No. I know their job is to agitate people.
Their job is to complain. They complain when NE doesn't bring in anyone new. And they complain when they sign their own guys. They complain no matter who they draft. They basically chalk up the Pats winning so many times due to dumb luck. And having Brady. But not having BB. I think they truly don't like him.

I am convinced they have no idea about football, but just rely on callers. No genuine opinions of their own.

I believe they are told what their opinions should be to keep people calling in and to keep ratings high. It's been well documented over the years that having an opposite opinion spurs more listeners than having a majority opinion. And opinions that are against the norm or against facts or established outcomes only stirs the pot more.

This  :goodposting: more obvious than ever that pre show they plan on what will stir up the most ####, pick sides and boom. It's entertainment and that's it, legitimate takes are VERY secondary.

So they've made 3 big moves plus the cannon brown thing plus resigning cam and they're all just replacing departing players?  Only net addition is jonnu or am i missing any

If by replacing departed players you mean guys that left over the past few seasons, then sure.

Brown replaces Cannon, who was getting along in years, took a year off, and was no longer worth his contract.
Smith replaces Gronk (at least to a certain extent) for the money they wouldn't pay Gronk.
Jodan replaces Van Noy or Flowers or Hightower.
Mills replaces someone at either CB or S (either McCourty or Chung or Gilmore)
Godchaux replaces whatever big guy in the middle that they seem to rotate through every year or two.

But they're not done. I expect them to sign, trade for, and draft a WR. They may also latch on to a RB with the money they aren't spending on White and Burkhead (they spent $7.5 million between the two of them last year).

They are likely getting younger in the process. I don't love Cam as the primary QB, but I am holding onto the narrative that they are going to draft someone to be the future. I am hearing that they probably won't take one in the first but they are said to like Trask in the second.

My guess is Bill is making this team a glove for a qb.

IMO, Thuney is not worth $16M a year. Not sure what is guaranteed yet. I think teams can find guards for a lot less money that can play just as well. Like I mentioned earlier, if the options are a cheap receiver and Thuney or a legit receiver and a cheap guard, give me the receiver at this point.

Very good player but they struck gold with Onwenu so they are more than equipped to let him walk and use the $ elsewhere...

Per Rapoport, Thuney’s deal has first 2 years guaranteed for $32.5M. Year 3 is injury only but converts to full guarantee in year 2. So $48M practically guaranteed.

Ryan Hannable and Tom Pellisero both reported that NE will be players in the RB market, so I guess that narrative has some legs to it.

Bill showing his sense of humor, as the official Patriots Twitter account tweeted a picture of Bill's dog Nike at his laptop after all their signings today.

Here is a list of NE players set to hit free agency . . .

C David Andrews
RB Rex Burkhead
DL Adam Butler
DB Terrence Brooks
WR Damiere Byrd
LB Shilique Calhoun
LB Brandon Copeland
DL Carl Davis
DB Cody Davis
OL Jermaine Eluemunor
K Nick Folk
DL Lawrence Guy
QB Brian Hoyer
WR Donte Moncrief
CB Jason McCourty
DE John Simon
DL Deatrich Wise Jr.
RB James White

Per Reiss, Patriots free-agent signing Jalen Mills is the only player in the NFL to play 50+ snaps at all seven of these pre-snap locations last year: LOLB, ROLB, Left and right slot CB, Left and right wide CB, and Free safety. He sounds like a BB dream.

Speaking of Felger and Mazz why do we care that Drew Rosenhaus reps the majority of the guys the Pats have signed? Grasping at straws to try and piss people off here? I don't get it

Schefter was the first one to mention it, and he seemed to think that may have helped get them those players.
