I am not the only one that hasn't been all that impressed with how things have gone so far. The Pats have spent roughly half the cap space they had to sign the following. PFF scores listed for each player. Typically, a score of 100+ is good for a QB, 80-90 for other positions, 70's is usually a decent starter, and 60's or worse is usually a liability.
NEW FACES
Brissett - 84.6 in 23 passing attempts . . . in seasons with 300+ attempts: 82.6, 59.2, 62.4

Takitaki - 68.7
Gibson - 66.6
Leverett - 64.0 in 2022 (didn't play enough to get a score last season)
Okorafor - 60.4
Hooper - 58.2

Henry 69.3
Bourne - 67.2

I am not being negative just to be negative. But they mostly have spent money to keep the guys they had (a total of $135M in combined contract value). I'm not suggesting they shouldn't have opted to bring back the players they did. But IMO, they really haven't gotten any better. IMO, they brought in mostly JAGs, and they haven't really added any impact players (or even average starters). They've only spent roughly $35 million on new players . . . but by cutting players they accumulated $21.5 million in dead cap money.
Given what Brissett )or a rookie QB) has to work with as of now, I don't think the offense will be any better than last year. They have roughly $55M in cap room left . . . and who else is out there for them to sign that's noteworthy? IMO, they will be lucky to get two legit starters in the draft and maybe two other contributors. If they start trading picks, then the likelihood of them hitting on their draft picks would drop. Obviously, we have to see what the roster looks like when the season starts, but IMO, they don't look any better at this point.
