Indefinite New York Jets Official thread - **2025 season** - The indefinite rebuild continues (4 Viewers)

I wont complain no matter who they take in 2d rd as im very happy with the Membou pick - but would love to grab a WR or TE here. After that just BPA....
the defense needs lots of help. just shows you how short on talent they are after the douglas error era.

Am I the only one that would be intrigued with picking Sanders here?

::ducks::

No, I've seen one other guy mention it. Ha.

Seriously, Sanders is like the poster child for a player Glenn wouldn't even want in the 5th round.
You are probably right about that. Similar to them not wanting anything to do with Rodgers they wouldn't want the Deion/Shedeur circus on their hands either. Especially since they've already committed to Fields as the starter. At a certain point the value/risk proposition is going to be intriguing for QB needy teams though.

For sure, but I'm pretty sure it won't be us.

I personally like Higgins, the WR from Iowa State. Good size on him.

I could see them targeting Taylor the TE. There is some depth at TE, but I'm not sure how ready any of these guys are. They seem to all need some development.

Emmanworri is interesting if we go defense. I'm sure Glenn is probably salivating at the thought of him. Watts is another Safety that I think Glenn would like.

Membou! I picked him for the Jets in our mock draft we did a few weeks ago. I took Mason Taylor in the second because there weren't any WRs I liked and I waited until the third to pick one.

What are the winning lotto tickets tomorrow?

No ****, huh? I'm bummed though. I wanted Sanders when he fell. It's a second round pick and I'm not a scout, but Taylor doesn't have the upside a QB that was supposed to go in the first like Sanders has. They must have hated his pocket presence and figured they couldn't coach the drifting out of him. I dunno.

But yeah, hoist one for me, RAGE. Good to see you around.

I was kind of surprised they didn’t take a chance in Round 3. At that point it’s worth it to kick the tires. I’m a Fields supporter so I don’t totally mind but I would have been good with it at that point.

Then again Cleveland passed a few times and the Steelers just did as well. Kind of odd.

i am hoping the jets finally unlock the mystery of the drafted TE. every time i hear them draft a TE i feel a little chill come across the room.
A few had decent but short careers (Johnny Mitchell, Dustin Keller) - but yeah, like QBs their TE development has been poor.

Guess we can say that about most positions.

I was thinking it was possible for the Jets to finish second in the Division this season, if Miami started selling off their stars, but man I like what New England is doing this offseason (I know they had a lot of money to spend). They’ve done real well in the draft also.

Don’t rule out New England actually winning the division (I just puked in my mouth a little) if Maye takes the next step. He looked very good as a rookie.

The fact that the Pats have already ripped it down....found a franchise QB and solid HC this quick is truly agonizing

i’m thinking stephens is moving to S, but $12mm per for a S seems high. i’ll trust Glenn with the DBs though.
im questioning this as well - they are locked into Stephens and Michael Carter for 2 yrs - why spend a high 3rd on a CB then....maybe Sauce has indicated hes not extending or asking for way too much. Stephens to safety doesnt make much sense with that contract. I also trust AG with CBs - maybe the value was just too high.

It's hard being a Jets fan these days..well, more than ever. The fanbase is so negative and toxic. Try reading about the draft on other message boards or social media. Complete sewer. Everyone with pre-draft narratives and ready to complain.

Membou - solidifies the o-line. Very young.

Taylor - should be a solid starting TE for several years. Less Ruckert is a win. Our TEs missed so many blocking assignments and had no athletic ability.

Thomas - seems like a future starter. Perfect for the AG/Wilks system and was great value in the third.

Smith - Deserves the criticism. Great speed, but too many drops. Were there better receivers on the board? Looked that way and that they reached, but they wanted speed. Fields can fling it deep. Let's hope this guy does a lot of work with the Juggs machine. At least the occasional deep pass will do wonders for the offense as defenses will attempt to stop our run attack. At least it should be better than Rodgers never throwing deeper than 10-15 yards.

Moore - Smart safety from a great program that has a chance to start. Just has to beat out Adams. Realistically, it shouldn't be too hard to win that job or at the least, play in a rotation.

Mauigoa - LB depth and special teams.

Barron - underrated edge depth and special teamer.

Could have gotten a better WR and drafted a DT, but first 2 rounds provided 2 starters and probably another 2 starters at some point. I don't think we can complain too much. Lots of wait and see as usual.

Interesting to see the contrast of opinions on our draft by "analysts" vs fans.

Fans (outside of this forum) are feeling negative about our draft mostly because they reached one WR and didn't draft a DT.

Analysts draft grades are very positive ranging from A to the worst I've seen was a B by Kiper. Albeit, draft grades are pretty meaningless at this point, but hey it's part of the football draft cycle.

If you really want to see how some non-fans view our draft, go to Walter football. https://walterfootball.com/nfldraftgradesteam.php Walter C has always despised the Jets with a passion (Dolphins fan I think), but even he gave it an "A".

Personally, I was hoping for some combo of OT-TE-WR in the draft. I would have liked HIggins in the second or K Williams in the third. Both went a few picks before our selection. We needed a TE, so I'm ok with taking Taylor in the second.

Maybe we should have traded up in the third for Williams, but I can see the value in drafting Thomas in the third round even if CB wasn't a need right now. I guess we have to look at the big picture. We're not competing for the Super Bowl next year, so maybe Thomas provides more long term value.

I do get the criticisms by the fans though. WR2 still looks like a need. I don't think we're going to throw that much, so I guess we can get by this season and draft a WR next year. Maybe we sign someone like Cooper.

As far as not drafting a DT, we had too many needs to take one with the top 3 picks.

Were any of those DTs in the 4th round any better than the guys we have on the roster already? We added some rotational DT fatties to stop the run. None look great, but still better than what we had last year. Maybe Leonard Taylor who looked pretty decent last year is ready for the next step.

Personally, I'd like to give the new coach/gm a chance to see what they did with those 4-6th round picks before complaining about them. I saw some article that only 20% of third rounders become quality players. It was 10% of less starting in the 4th round, so if these guys don't pan out, it's probably much ado about nothing.

If we get 3 starters and a couple of contributors, then it was a good draft. Let's see if we add any other free agents now that there is no draft compensatory component to signing them.

can't fix it all in one off-season, I am in the camp of waiting to see what kind of Defense and Offense is run before we get too nuts on 4-6th rd picks. The first 3 rds all seemed like good value, but the proof is on the field. I gotta believe they are looking for a "type" of player in creating a team identity and culture. Let's see how it goes. I do love the draft, but with all these mock drafter analysts out there is a bit of group think that settles in and analyzing names for 12 months and perceived value warps opinions a lot. Shocked to see Walter Football love this draft, he has hates most Jets picks for years.

agreed - i focus on the 1st 3 picks. 1st rder should be a plug in starter. 2d rder should be starter in a rotation at least. 3rd should be getting decent PT in some way....rest are ST and dice rolls.

Membou is def starting RT.....dont see how Taylor doesnt beat out a very poor TE room and the new CB should be in a rotation at the very least - if others step up as reserve/ST thats a solid class.

Ugh.

I was in favor of the pick..never realized the injury was that bad. Bummed for the kid

Didn't his agent blame the Jets for rushing him back?

Sucks that he didn't get a chance to see if he could make it in the NFL, but he was a flyer at best.

Yeah, he said something about them pushing him too hard or messing up his rehab in some way.

Could certainly see some sort of lawsuit coming down the pipeline at some point as a result.
