Indefinite New York Jets Official thread - **2025 season** - The indefinite rebuild continues (20 Viewers)

Colts are 7-2 with a top young team - they are looking at 2 late rd 1sts for a top CB.

Who knows who they can draft with those picks - if lucky one could turn out to be Sauce!

I’d rather it be at least one proven player based on their draft history.
AG must hate Sauce to deal him like this
Seriously - two crapshoots to try to make that lost value back.
im sure huge cap savings as well - plus im hearing a player may be involved going to Jets as well - crossing fingers its not A Rich! lol

Adonai Mitchell it seems - at least he has some promise

High upside WR - 2024 2d rd pick under control through 2027....on face its 2 1st rders and a recent 2d rd prospect and cleared $10M+ - they got value

Well i'll choose to be optimistic and say that early returns on Mougey's first high draft picks are pretty good with Membou and Taylor.

If you're not gonna build around a kid like that (who you literally just paid) what's the point?

Just an absolute poverty franchise. If I'm Garrett, I ask for the same treatment

I don't like this deal. Sauce is the kind of player you build around, not trade away in the middle of his prime. IMO Mitchell is fools gold. IND needs a WR too and gave him every opportunity to be a starter but he continually fell out of favor, not just because of that 1 fumble. Sometimes a change of scenary helps, but the NYJ aren't usually an improvement over just about any team in that regard.

I'm ok with it. Clearly Glenn wants a different style of CB than Sauce. They found value with Brownlee and I guess we are going to see what Thomas can do. Sauce is great, and I'm sad to see him go, but this trade gives them more than enough draft capital to go get the QB they want and build the team the way they want around him. Everyone was crying about the tank a week ago, well here it is in full glory. Adding Mitchell into the deal is a nice upside play as well. At the very least the WR room is now more talented and interesting than it was 2 weeks ago. Better remains to be seen.

i have no issues with this deal and i’m a forever jet fan. let’s be realistic here, jets are bereft of talent. a couple of names, but too much blecch. by the time they turn this around, say ‘28, gardner’s decline will be all the more prominent. make no mistake, gardner’s slip has been noticeable to the eye. he doesn’t INT, he doesn’t cause fumbles, he shies away from tackling. i also wonder if getting paid will make him coast a bit. 2 1s, even late first round, are too much to pass. adonai was late 1st talent. reminds me a bit of the jamal adams trade. we can lose 80% of our games with or without you. i just wish quinnen williams was dealt too.

I don't think they are trying to replace Sauce. I don't think Glenn feels he needs a Sauce type. IMHO they are building draft capital to get the QB and build around him. There is a non zero chance they don't make at least one of these picks.

From a neutral perspective, I think the deal makes a lot of sense for both sides. Jets are a ways away from being relevant. Likely not until Sauce is 27-28 years old (at least). Gotta think they can use those picks to upgrade multiple positions (or move one or both to move up for a QB, etc.). Of course, there's always a chance it doesn't work out, but standing pat (with not a lot of talent around him) doesn't make sense. As someone else alluded to, might as well lose games without him (and put those picks in the back pocket), as opposed to losing the same games with him. Besides all of that, he just might not fit Glenn's plan/scheme. Deal him now, before his "slip" becomes even more noticeable.

Meanwhile, Colts are in a win-now position, and trading two late 1's for a change to upgrade at a very important position is a no-brainer, in my opinion.

You might as well trade everyone now.
Yeah whats the point they just extended this guy 4/120 4 months ago, this is insane

But also, Woody Johnson owns this team
if they didn’t extend him they would’ve been where? tagging him? staring at the same thing they have with hall. year 4 gardner is not the same as year 1 or year 2 gardner. lots of guys are untouchable and then all of a sudden someone makes you an offer you simply can’t refuse. jets have lost piles of games and give up 30+ like i change underwear. gardner is part of that. if this was joe douglas having those picks, that’s one thing but maybe, just maybe, mougey has a clue.

Exactly, If he wasn't extended they wouldn't have gotten this return for him. He'd be a rental like Breece. Seems like an odd thing to complain about here.

Stephens turnaround, Brownlee steal and the 3 rd CB playing well made this possible - will they continue to play well? Time will tell.

Its clear the rebuild will be focused on offense. They now have a ton of cap space - I can see them extending Breece now

i think the rebuild will be focused more on defense. obviously need a qb. but they have allen and davis at rb and can tag hall if needed. they have wilson and taylor. need a running mate for wilson obviously, but maybe adonai or metchoe flash a bit. the OL has high picks and should be good enough with some tweaks.

they need interior linemen that aren’t just fat guys. some LBs that can cover and go sideline to sideline and safeties, by god….find some safeties.

In Weeks 6-9, we're No. 1 in the NFL for fewest penalties (11) and penalty yards against (66)

****
I like this flex
Maybe within they're seeing that as a sign Glenn is starting to get thru to the team

Is that partially because they were on bye in week 9? lol. I'd be curious what the per game stats on that were.

The new Jets brass is basically telling you the talent they inherited was overrated. Whether that's true or not is a matter of opinion. But dealing off two of your three-highest paid players—at 27 (Quinnen Williams) and 24 (Sauce Gardner) years old—screams that.

Completely fine with the moves they made so far. Nothing is working right now, might as well recoup something. Now move Hall. Hoping to keep Wilson, JJ, McDonald, Sherwood, and Quincy.

I really liked both Q and Sauce but bottom line is they've been part of losing for years and its not getting better.....not saying its their fault but the jets are a 1 win team with them and certainly can be without them.....at least there is a future here with capital and a ton of cap space. They may finally use all of it to put together an actual offense.

Jets are killing it. Insane draft capital.
2026: 2 1sts NYJ, IND
2026: 2 2nds NYJ, Dal
2027 3 1sts NYJ, Dal, IND
2027 1 2nd: NYJ

Mougey better make that count.
And cleared a ton of $.

Lord I hope they move GW to a team with a good passing offense.
If i'm the GM Wilson is the most untouchable player along with the OTs. Pretty much anyone else is on the table for the right price. I'd be shocked if Wilson was moved.

Can you imagine if this pans out-

Multiple league sources told me they expect Breece Hall and/or Jermaine Johnson will be the next Jets players on the move.

They have offers on the table for both

not saying its impossible but I dont see it - I think they keep and extend both. They have a boatload of picks and cap space now.
