Indefinite New York Jets Official thread - **2025 season** - The indefinite rebuild continues (4 Viewers)

Pretty awesome win on a day when the news came out that Nick passed away.

Good for Fields. I think yesterday was more of a result of playing the Bengals defense, but great game for him and the rest of the team on the heels of Woody's stupid comments. Also great for the players. Woody should go be an American ambassador to Mars.

While i want that top overall pick, no one wants to go win-less. At least we can get some peace heading into the bye week.

As for the game, man this team is bi-polar. Either the offense shows up and the defense doesn't or vice-versa, it's never both in the same game. Similar to week 1 it's more fun to watch when the offense plays well and they actually pulled it out this time! The fact that they did it without Wilson (+ Reynolds) and Sauce is funny as well, though the Bengals defense being terrible helps. Good for Fields, good for Breece and good for Glenn. At least for a few weeks they can all hold their heads high, especially Glenn. He's taken the lumps and they have been well deserved, but he managed the game well this week and the team is still playing hard for him. I'm curious to see what if any trades happen over the bye and how they fare against a solid Browns defense but an offense even more inept than their own. I'm still realistic about of Fields and i'm still not sold on Glenn, Mougey or even Engstrand, but getting the first win seems important and I can hold out hope that maybe progress can still be on the horizon.

I've been a Jets fan long enough to know that hoping to lose so they can get the franchise saving QB with the top pick is fool's gold. At this point I'd rather see progress and signs of growth from the coaching staff and young plyers like we saw today. If we get more games like that and it costs us the top pick so be it. Whoever the next QB is I'd prefer them coming into a team that finished strong with a staff that showed signs of improvement than a team that went 1-16 and is looking to them to "save" the franchise.

I'll assent to this and give credit where credit is due. I don't know if it was Aaron Glenn or somebody in his ear (I'm almost certain it was him unprompted*), but going for two is exactly what you're supposed to do. I didn't know if given the Jets' ineptitude that they should, but I took a gander and unless you're the worst team to pretty much ever play the game, you go for two, and he showed the league exactly why.

eta* I'm sort of shocked by that given his press conferences. That's really kind of hardcore analytics (well, for NFL coaches it is hardcore—it's actually somewhat rudimentary, according to a lot of statistics lovers), and there's no reason if he wasn't totally aware of the percentages that he would just gamble and go for it there because it IS NOT intuitive in the least.

Benglas D is shaky but who cares. I feel like this was the first game since the opener where they let Fields be Fields. I stand by letting him play the year out - there is no point in playing a 37 yr old Tyrod who is a FA. They are on the hook for another $20M and while my hopes of him developing into the answer at QB is extremely remote - he has half a season to show more - not to mention they are on the hook for $20M next year - let him be the bridge to another rookie hope. Nuking him in press and benching will solve nothing.

Coaching was pretty solid for the most part - except the mind boggling sweep on 4th and inches in their own territory - they used the Fields sneak most of the time after that - good to see AG get a win especially with that rag tag WR room.

Mason looks like the real deal - what a weapon - Jets havent had a legit TE since Mickey - OMG am I that old to remember - Shuler.

Im interested in the bye week adjustments - get GW and Sauce back - make a 2d half run. Agree with above - Im dont with the tanking until maybe last few games if there is nothing to play for and they have Tyrod out there. Trevor is the latest example of no slam dunk saviors in the draft. Should be a few solid QBs with 1st rd grades this year that will be available to them
