Indy 500. Scott Dixon crash. Kiss bricks, Sato (1 Viewer)

The onboard camera from Dickson's car... freeze frame it and you can see Castroneves's car blurring past underneath when Dickson is upside down. (edit: more like vertical, car nose pointing at the ground, based on the replay angle from behind the crash)

This race has just been great to watch. Three and four cars wide going into turns. Restarts that are so packed in they look in places like an LA freeway at rush hour.

From my seat at the race I saw the entire accident unfold. As soon as I saw him (his name is spelled Dixon btw) get out of the car I remarked at least the race will receive some national attention - it's a shame it takes a spectacular wreck to bring the attention to a great event.

Having F1 champion Fernando Alonso here brought a lot of international attention and Takuma Sato winning will be huge in Japan.

Sato made this last lap pass attempt to win the 500 in 2012:

Friend of mine went to it this year & my first thought was "wow they still run that thing?" In the late 60s, early 70s, the Indy 500 was on same level as a Super Bowl or an Ali title fight. I remember listening to it on the radio every Memorial Day growing up (the tape delay tv broadcast came on later the same day.)
