All signs point to place-kicker Adam Vinatieri being back at work Sunday in the RCA Dome when the Indianapolis Colts entertain AFC South rival Tennessee.
Vinatieri expressed optimism he'll be ready. He has missed the past two games with a groin injury.
"We'll see how it is today,'' Vinatieri said prior to Wednesday's practice. "When you've got a little something going on, it takes a little while. Your body heals at its own pace. I think we should be ready to go this week.''
the Colts waived veteran kicker Martin Gramatica to make room on the 53-man active roster for tight end Jerome Collins. If Vinatieri suffers a setback before Sunday, Gramatica will be re-signed.
The past two games are the first Vinatieri has missed during his 11-year career.
"Nobody wants to be on the sideline watching your team play,'' he said.
