Anyone have info about Anthony Gonzalez or Blair White...Was wondering if Gonzo was ready for full time and if either one of the two would warrant any value with Collie out for a few weeks?!?

Just in. Time to re -thing the hype.

Anthony Gonzalez is out indefinitely again after recently aggravating his high ankle sprain.

ESPN's Adam Schefter says the new injury "does not appear to be major," but it could be enough to move Blair White a rung up the depth chart instead of Gonzalez. The two were expected to battle to be Indianapolis' No. 3 receiver with Austin Collie (hand surgery) out "a few weeks." Schefter's report says nothing definitive about Gonzalez's timetable, but his inability to stay healthy will make him difficult for the Colts to count on in such a vital role.

Phenomenal. Spent a 4th rounder on him last year and held him until week 8. Pulled him in the 11th this year, but cut him week 3 after Collie had clearly one the job as a result of Gonzalez not being able to get on the field. And this week, of course, re-signed Gonzalez to fill the void left by Collie's injury.

Funny thing is, these injuries don't seem to be happening on the field. On the 2009 week 1 injury, he was untouched and crumbled on the field. No real reason given for the 2010 week 1 injury, and the latest high ankle sprain obviously did not occur in a game, because Gonzalez has played a game!

This guy makes Laurent Robinson look like Jerry Rice in terms of durability.

No new info, but I picked up Gonzo in two leagues. He might be a longshot, but the dude was supposed to be the #2 until he went down last year. Given how thin the Colts are, I have to imagine he'll get a shot to regain his starting job.

Just read a post that's a roundtable of opinions on what's going to happen in Indy. Sigmund Bloom chimes in too.
Don't mean to hijack as the OP specifically asked about WR's, but I'm amazed at the lack of interest in Tamme. I'm seeing Tamme as having a big impact. He is being overlooked and is available in most leagues.Every time I've seen him play with Manning in preseason he has excelled. Tamme will produce in this system and Manning will use him. I've picked up Tamme and he will start for me after the bye. Don't wait until after that first game, it will be difficult to get him then.

Everyone is so quick to talk about White, Gonzo, or Tamme. Let's not forget about Garcon here. First two weeks were horrible, a combined 4 for 54. Then he has quietly put up 6 for 57 his first week back from a pulled hamstring. Then week 6 he had 4 for 103 ad a td. I am expecting a great game from this guy coming out of his bye, against a defense that is horrible against the pass.

Did you see the interception he caused in Jacksonville? Yikes!

I think the reason you aren't seeing discussion on Garcon is because it goes without saying. He's going to be a beast in my opinion. I predict he and Wayne are going to be a lot like Harrison and Wayne were when they both went over 80 catches a season. I'd expect high end WR2 numbers from Garcon the rest of the season. He's #22 in PPR over his last two games averaged out and that was before Clark went down. I think that is his healthy floor.

I think the real question is whether Blair White is a better option in the slot over Gonzalez. Is that where White lined up when he played earlier in the year?

Yeah...have that feeling that my patience with Garcon is about to pay off (well, not total patience...I did drop him for a few days before I came to my senses and was lucky nobody snagged him before I could pick him back up.Good thing too with Moss not doing all that well.

There was no "latest high ankle sprain".

IMO Garcon has dropped or let too many passes slip through his hands....week 1 against Houston he had 10 targets and only caught 3 and in week 6 against a tough KC, he had 14 targets and only caught 6. I only play in standard leagues and don't think that would still help anyone too much in PPR consistently enough. How focused is he really playing? With that in mind about Garcon and the durablity issue with "Glass Joe Gonzalez", Blair White should get the call and be fine in the slot...The guy was a walk on at Michigan State and undrafted in the NFL and has absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain. He's only been in the system for 5 weeks, he just needs more time to show what he can do. The situation is the perfect time to prove it...until of course Collie comes back.

You'll note that the post you quote was 11 am on Monday based solely on Schefter's comments...news reports on Gonzalez refuting these comments do not appear until 2 pm Monday

But I do appreciate the correction 48 hours later with the benefit of the player's side of the story...I really do. Can you help us all out by coming back and correcting all the Colts RB speculation posts after they kickoff on Monday night?

#Colts coach Caldwell on WR Anthony Gonzalez: "I'm still optimistic." Gonzo said Monday he's "very optimistic" he will play Monday. 39 minutes ago via TweetDeck

I just can't get past the fact that Anthony Gonzalez has not played a full game since 2008. Although it's possible he comes back strong to re-claim the slot job over the next few weeks, I personally think that it would be a surprise for him to play a majority of snaps there this week. It doesn't set me at ease that he and the coach are using terms like "optimistic," either. "Optimistic" ain't a done deal.

I could see both Gonzalez and White getting time in the slot this week, and then one of them eventually emerges as a viable option, just in time for Collie's music to start playing in the background as he makes his return. But I personally don't think we'll see either guy put up the big Collie-like numbers this week. Not that anyone cares, but if forced to make a decision between the two, I'd personally pick White as a better chance to emerge for the next few games.
