Teams can put someone on IR any time they want, from now until the Super Bowl.

I thought at this time they are waived first for 24 hrs and if no one claims them they go on IR. This is why Leshoure & Batch aren't on IR. Why Fannin was waived/injured which means once nobody claimed him he was on IR...

Yes, I believe that a player has to clear waivers first to be placed on IR in the preseason. Teams could still try to place people on IR at this point . . . wasn't fully understanding the question initially.

Is that the way it is? Now I'm not so sure since Leshoure was IR'd. However, Gettis hasn't been?
