Injuries Behind Him? (1 Viewer)

Okay....Steve Smith owners are rejoicing at his improvement: He may actually make it to your starting lineup. How long before he reinjures? You know the threat of it happening will hang over you like a dark cloud and be a source of dread and worry.

Do you stay with him and risk it reinjuring, or do you take a good game or two from him and then try to trade him before he gets hurt again?

What is the history of other WR's who have returned after missing significant time early in the season due to tight hamstrings?

I think it really depends on the severity of the hamstring injuries. If it was minor, then he should play fine for the rest of the year without worries. I don't think people are too worried about Owens or Ward. If it was a bad strain , and he tries to come back too early, he could be in and out of games and his production will be spotty at best. (see randy moss last year). If he plays two games without any problems, I think he is in the clear, but there is risk there becuase it is hard to diagnose the severity of a hamstring (short of a tear). I dealt Smith myself becuase I don't want to take the risk. If he starts playing and then reaggs, his value will plummet.

I too dealt him (after week 1) for the same reason.Who/what was the deal involving?

I do know this. If Smith can put his hamstring woes behind him, thanks to an 0-2 start the chances of Smith being rested for any portion of the fantasy playoffs have evaporated to just about nil.

Good point. The panthers down 0-2 in the conference with a divisional loss need to get back to their preseason perch atop the NFC.They have shown that with O-line problems and an unhealthy Smith, they are vulnerable. So when Smith can go, they'll lean on him even more. Smith better be ready to go, because the Panthers will need him.

Why are you asking this now since you already traded him? I wouldn't trade him.

I am trying to talk myself off the ledge. If he is back and is his super self, I don't want to feel too bad about having dealt him away.

As a Steve Smith owner I am hoping he sits out one more week. I'd rather be safe then sorry. Unfortuntaly, when he eventually does come back, I will sit him for that week so I don't fall into the possible decoy trap. It really is a bad situation, not to mention I've gone 0-2 in the league I have him.

I'm quite confident that he's okay - after seeing Dr. Andrews and then practicing the next day, tells me that he's 100%. Dr. Andrews is probably the best sports doctor in the world.

:goodposting: Totally agree.

I'm sitting him this week but I hope he plays even if he's a decoy. I want to see footage of him on the field for my own evaluation purposes. I've got A. Bryant and Chambers in this week so I'm cool with SS working himself back in to my line-up.

Non-ppr, redraft I traded him for reggie bush and vernon davis. I had foster as my rb2 starter so I needed an upgrade. I traded LJ Smith for receiver help and I am going to go with the two rookies as starters. Will see.

Your GUESS is as good as anyone else's.

MY opinion: Steve Smith strikes me as the ultimate tough guy. I'd bet on him at every opportunity until it's time to go down with the ship.

CAROLINA: Panthers All-Pro receiver Steve Smith practiced for the second straight day Friday as he recovers from a strained right hamstring, but he's still considered a game-time decision against Tampa Bay

In my 12 team, non-ppr league,I traded him (along with Deuce McAllister) after week 1 for Larry Fitzgerald and Jerome Harrison.

My RB's are S. ALexander, Willie Parker, Droughns, and Norwood.

The risk of his injury being longterm is what compelled me to trade him.
