Injury Debriefing (1 Viewer)

I've been writing a Monday injury debriefing post on the blog all season, but felt like today's post deserved a thread.

Discussion includes why I'm worried about Julio Jones this week, why Fred Jackson was ruled out so early this week, expectations for DeMarco Murray and Maurice Jones-Drew, concerns on Aaron Hernandez and more.

Thanks Dr. Jene. I also tend to think that Hernandez must have re-aggravated the ankle on Friday. Wouldn't the Pats be better off having Hernandez not practice during the week and just "give it a shot" on Sunday? Doesn't he have a better shot of seeing the field if they don't insist on him testing it during the week?

Thx Jene,

Excellent article. I will be reading more regularly.

Does Julio normally miss practice (ala Calvin)? As an owner this worries me, especially if not normal, and don't know how Adams is blowing this off as if it's nothing to fret about. Every point counts the next few weeks for playoff pushes.

Julio Jones (leg) was held out of Wednesday's practice. We still don't know the exact nature of Jones' "leg" injury, but today's missed practice isn't a major concern since he played through the ailment in Sunday's loss to the Saints. There's a chance he'll be held out of Thursday's session, as well, but for now there's no reason to believe he won't be ready for Sunday's tilt with the Cardinals. I am covering my ears and yelling, "La, la, la. I can't hear you!"Every week the second opinion blog sounds like a recap of my team. :wall:

Thanks for the good work Jene! I just wish you were wrong more often this year...

Out of the blue getting Julio lowball offers. Is this isolated are are people shopping him? I'm interested, but cautious. If he does have a HAS but will be back for the fantasy playoffs, then I'm all in. Anyone buying/selling Julio???

Wait and see mode. I remember people selling Martin because his linemen Nicks was out, and jumping ship--I know the circumstances are different and Julio may be the injured one, as opposed to his teammate, but it's better to see if he practices this week. If he misses tomorrow, then it's clear that he is not 100% healthy. Now, if you fear he may be more injured like suggested in the link, then your time to sell would be now.In fact, I'd sell M.Ryan too.How much time does someone usually miss with this? 4 weeks? Sounds like playoffs time for most.So I'd buy regardless.

Yeah that's some good reasoning. It's why I decided to buy Julio while I could. It may cost me this week as I also own Ryan. But my playoff spot is secure and they don't start for 5 more weeks. I can afford to stash Julio.

Julio Jones (ankle) missed practice again on Thursday.Similar to Ryan Mathews, Jones returned to the game and finished it out last week after suffering the injury. Coach Mike Smith said Thursday that Jones and LB Sean Weatherspoon (ankle) are "moving in the right direction" and the decision to play them could come "very late in the week." Jones is starting to take on the look of a game-time call, though we still suspect he will play after convincing medical personnel to let him back in the game last week.

Time to worry more for those wanting to start him this week.

Any thoughts on Eli Manning? Is he a good buy for the fantasy playoffs, or does he need rest he's not going to get til after the season?
