I'm reading a really excellent book called The Progress Paradox. It was written by Gregg Easter took, formerly known as ESPN's Tuesday Morning Quarterback and a fellow at the Hoover Institute. This particular fact really caught my eye as I thought it was tremendously interesting (among a lot of really interesting facts that blow a lot of conventional wisdom out of the water):
For the 20 years during the 1980s and 1990s (and this could very well be true for a lot of years since then, I don't know since the book was written in the early 00s), the United States took in more immigrants (legally) every single year than every other country in the world...combined.
