Thanks for this opportunity! My question (two parts):

Will Michael Clayton be fully healthy at the start of the season? Can he return to his rookie year type production?

Thank you!

What can reasonably be expected from Dwayne White moving forward? I had high hopes for him coming out of Louisville but he hasn't exactly banished Greg Spires to a permanent seat on the bench.

Thanks for taking the question.

I'm a Chris Simms owner so this is something I'm obviously keeping close tabs on.

FBG's has reported several glowing quotes from Coach Gruden regarding rookie QB Gradkowski. What are the chances of this guy actually winning the #2 spot this season. Taking it another step, could he see action this season if Simms struggles a bit? I'm blown away by the rumor that this could happen since it seemingly took Simms forever to get on the field for the Bucs.

We have had discussions on the message board about the possibility of Cadillac Williams involvement in the passing game being increased. Do you think that this is a likely scenario?

How do you see Cadilac Williams performing this year? The are a number of factors that will help/hurt his production:

1. Will he recieve goalline carries?

2. Many claimed that Gruden worked Caddy too hard last year, will he have significantly less carries/game this year?

3. Some have given Caddy an injury-prone label, is this a fair label?

4. How has the OL improved/worsened from last year?

As a Caddy owner in a dynasty league I am very interested in any insight you can provide. Thanks.

hey Jim,

I was wondering if you thought that Earnest Graham can hold off Andre Hall for the 4th RB spot, and whether you think that the loser of that battle would need to be cut. I imagine you saw alot of Hall as a USF grad yourself, so do you think he has what it takes to succeed in the NFL?

Thanks!

Alex Smith started strong last year with 2 TD's in the season opener, then had none for the rest of the season. Best guess as to Gruden's plans on making Smith more of a red zone target this year, and is Smith capable of being a top 5 TE in the NFL?

With age, and the number of quality WR's slated to be in camp, what are the chances Galloway comes anywhere close to his production of last year?

I'd be interested in this as well, as well as the aforementioned role (or lack thereof with Alstott) at the goal line.

Hey Jim,

The Bucs have a stellar but aging nucleus on defense... do you think Ronde Barber, Simeon Rice, Shelton Quarles & Derrick Brooks will remain with TB beyond 2006... when they move on, who do you see being replacements (if you think they are on the team currently), especially for Rice, Brooks and Barber?

Is Kiffin expected to work Barrett Ruud into the MLB mix some more this season to be groomed as Quarles eventual replacement, or if the incumbent plays as well as he did last year, will it be hard to keep him off the field?

Longer term, do team insiders view third rounder Maurice Stovall as insurance in case Clayton doesn't get untracked, eventual replacement for galloway or merely as a situational weapon with limited WR3 upside... would the skill sets of he & Clayton mesh well enough to be in the starting lineup together in the future?

How is Donte Nicholson progressing? Do the coaches think he can improve enough in coverage to earn a starting job anytime soon?

Hi Jim,

How do you think the loss of Rod Marinelli will affect the team?

And how much impact on the offensive side of the ball will he be able to have in Detroit?

J

Bounceback year for Michael Clayton? Is he the guy we saw in '04 or '05?

1. What are the long-term prospects for rookie Maurice Stovall

2. What is the likelihood of Ronde getting resigned to multi-year deal?

3. Also interested in how Alex Smith will be used in 06...

I like this question. And if he could expand on that question a little bit... I'm wondering if Galloway is expected to be the #1 option again at reciever this year, or is Clayton expected to step in this year and take that role..

How is Larry Brackins doing now with a year under his belt. What are his chances of seeing some playing time this year?

What are the team's expectations for David Boston? Is he looking more like the Boston of old, or will he struggle to even make the roster?

Also I'm curious about rookie DB/PR Justin Phinisee. How has he looked in OTAs? Living in Eugene, OR, I keep my eye on the Ducks players. He seemed to be a decent corner, but I can envision him making a living in the NFL as a punt returner. Does he have a shot to unseat Mark Jones?

seems like they have too many WRs. How many will they keep and who likely gets cut?

What did he think of Todd France last summer missing just one FG in practice and games? Will they have him in camp again this summer?

I'd really like to know his thoughts on some of the former Tampa coaches' teams out there like Herm's or Lovie's or Dungy's. I'd bet he has some interesting things to say

1. Alex Smith - All the upside in the world. How does the offense plan to use him?

2. David Boston - Is he working hard? What do the coaches think?

3. JR Russell - Can he make an already loaded WR corps ?

Hi Jim-

Can you give us a summary of what the defense will be like this year? The Buc D has been a nice roster spot for FF teams due to their ability to grab turnovers and make the big plays. Will we expect to see more of this and can we expect to see some sack numbers on the rise?

Thanks

-PM

Thanks for the chance to get some clarity in the Bucs depth charts here....

I am a Chris Simms and Barrett Ruud owner in a dynasty league. I have faith in Simms long term, but want to focus my question on the TB LB corp.

With the contract restructuring of Brooks & Quarles, how does the LB youth look as far as playing time... like Ruud? His projected place as MLB to replace the aging Quarles was delayed with Quarles spectular performace in 2005. Will it be a platoon LB group or Quarles have the job to lose with a performance based on last season's benchmarks?

Thanks!

What do you expect Caddy's role to be in the offense? Do you expect Alstot to come in on short yardage? What will Pittman's role be in the offense?

How will the addition of a true FB, Jared Sowell help the run game? Do you think he will help in the run blocking game, particularly goal line. :pirate: :pirate: :pirate:

He's already been named the starting FB.

DeWayne White is going to have a monster season this year. Think Umenyiora. He's spent the past few seasons mastering his technique and learning from Rice/Spires. If you remember, he had back-to-back game-changing plays last season for the Bucs. He's going to erupt this year in the 15+ sack range.Jim,

Jermaine Phillips has consistently been underperforming at SS since replacing Lynch. He's been bowled over by the likes of Kevin Jones and Kevan Barlow for TDs, and has still yet to stay healthy for a full season. It seems, however, that due to the overall weakness at the position for the Bucs, that he is still starting, despite his poor performance.

Do you see enough talent from one of the young guys to push or even replace him this season? Or will this continue to be an ongoing problem for an otherwise top defense?

Hi Jim,

1) Will Caddy's carries be reduced this year?

2) If the carries are reduced who will spell him? Pittman? Derek Watson?

3) If / when Caddy misses games who would replace him? Is Derek Watson more of the every down back replacement for a 2-3 game stretch?

Hi Jim. How come you never return my phone calls? :stalker:

Kidding aside, I've been a subscriber to the PR for years now and am a big fan. You guys completely own the local papers, especially Stroud. :D

What's your opinion on the oline? To me, it's the most fascinating battle of training camp from center to right tackle. I'm of the belief that Wade is going to lose his job as the starting center -- but I'm not sure Joseph is ready to take over at the guard spot yet, which would prevent Mahan from moving (unless Terry is set to go, which would surprise me a bit).

Also, I know Colmer struggled mightily last season -- is he going to make the team, or will be forced out in a numbers game? From my understanding, he was just completely lost. There's a lot of talent on the Oline, I'm really looking forward to seeing how it shakes out.

Anthony Becht seems to get bashed quite often, and by drafting 2 late-round TEs it did not give me any reason to believe the Bucs are happy with him. With one of our newly drafted TEs already hurt, it looks like we will need to depend on Becht again. What is the deal with the TEs behind Smith? How much of last years success in the run game can be contributed to Bechts blocking skills?

And why are there like 9 rostered TEs?That have anything to do with the new more involved H-back role Gruden's trying to do?

Thanks Joe

I had thought similarly about the WRs but figured how could they let each of their young potential WRs go? (like Brackins, Shepherd, and Warren) Interesting that he thinks they'll all be hard pressed to make the lineup. If the threads from last summer were still here, alot of those 3 were praised here.

I wonder, if cut, if those fans of the WRs will keep them on their dynasty roster and figure the Bucs made a mistake? Or will they figure they're "shot"?

If you were one of those pimping one of these 3 WRs please reply with your thoughts now
