Is a Political Sub-Forum too much to ask for? (1 Viewer)

My brother's mechanic heard from a guy that they are going to add a political sub forum right after they fix the search function. Should be any day now.

Yes it is and no you can't have one. I have been here since the beginning. This has been asked and answered ad infinitum ad nausem. Joe doesn't even bother anymore. It isn't happening.
Why was the baseball sub-forum created?
Because baseball talk is worse than politics talk. Duh.
Blasphemy!!![mod]moved to baseball sub-forum[/mod]

Easy, no?
So you want every thread in which there is something political to be moved to a politics forum? Can you see that about 90% of all threads would end up there?

Id like an official unofficial politics thread. Basically a thread for discussion about politics with the caveat that any of the main visitors to political threads aren't allowed.

A political discussion thread that excludes top 10 posters in:

Tims thread, Hillary Clinton thread, GOP thread, Ferguson thread, Trayvon Martin thread, and a few others.
Yeah...something like that. Confined, but free.
Maybe the usual political posters could have something separate, but equal?

Joe has distanced himself from the forums in general. Probably a good idea if you are in business.

It's obviously too much to ask for. Glaringly obvious.

Seriously, didn't you guys see all the hoops threads that saturated the FFA, necessitating the new HoopsGuys forum? Folks have been clamoring for years that they needed a special forum dedicated just for them to discuss their neverending basketball thoughts. There were so many threads in here I stopped trying to wade through them all. Thank the imaginary sky lord that we were able to clear up some space in here.

Sheesh, now you want a political forum?.....I can't stop laughing....I just can't.

Joe/David>if I can raise pledges so that you can donate $5000 to the charity of your choice, would you give us a political forum and move political threads there or just delete them from the ffa if that's too much work?  I'm dead serious.

I'll pledge some dough for this @David Dodds @Joe Bryant - please guys, pleeeeeease.

I had commitments of $5000 if Tim would go away forever.  I guarantee the FFA would fund this to end this once and for all.

I got caught up following this Supreme Court nomination stuff and went into a tailspin arguing in the PSF.

I feel dirty, a little dumber, and slightly more insane.

I can never go back in there except for the Trade War thread, as that is a topic that still interests me, but is more economics than politics. That thread should be in this forum, but whatever.

Every once in awhile I will go there and it just always makes me feel frustated and depressed. It's a black hole.

Same here.  I very rarely posted in any forum but I use to enjoy reading some of the stuff in the PSF.  Then for some idiotic reason I posted a few times and was made to feel not so good.  So now if I want to get depressed instead of going there and reading I just turn on the news.  There use to be some good discussions in there but not so much now.

Also, I have to ask: What's going on in your avatar? You kissing a fish I assume? It kind of looks like you are helping a fish smoke a joint.

Giving a fish a shotgun LOL(thats what we use to call it back in the day when we would put the lit end of a doobie in our mouth and blow the smoke into a friends mouth.  Don't know if that is still a thing)

Kissing a fish is an old tradition it brings luck.  You kiss the first fish of the day and it will bring you luck to catch more.  Old superstition kind of like you don't want to catch one on the first cast if you do you won't catch anymore that day.

It is a thing and that's what I was thinking but wasn't sure if everyone knew what that was.

It's a disgrace and an insult to everyone here. Glad they're all cast off in their own little corner. They all earned it. All the same type of people that get off by insulting each other.

I don't understand how those people willingly do it for hours every day.
and I don't get how few of them ever venture in here or the SP. Like don't you need a break or to talk about something else?  Funny to think the SP used to be considered the ugliest spot on this forum.

Ha, step into the octagon!!!

I get hung up in there one in awhile and always think..are these guys that miserable and unhappy in their day to day lives? The hate and bitterness just oozes out of them.  Then I was following a thread and realized it is only the same 25-30 people that keep that forum going and sometimes only 5-10.

You did better than Otis.

He went from "this looks like a political stunt" to "#### white men and republicans, I am moving my family to Canada so Trump doesn't rape my wife and daughters" in a span of 12 hours.

:lmao:

If you do not have thick skin and a strong mind I would advise avoiding that cess pool.

Agree with this completely. How do these people do it daily?

There are maybe 4-5 posters in the PSF who I enjoy discussing topics with, even if in disagreement while staying cordial. Everyone else, I think this is spot on.

It's never pleasant getting involved in any conversation there, it's the same people, and none of them are even slightest bit flexible on their viewpoints.

If I was going to punish someone, I would send them into that forum and tell them they can't leave until they complete 1k posts.

PSF is awful.  But it is self-contained and seems to keep even semi-political type threads out of the FFA.

I got sucked in there, but realized you have so many people that just keep getting baited by trolls that even if you ignore the trolls you still can't ignore the quotes.

It's still sort of funny to check in there from time to time when breaking news happens, but if you just want to stay up on the news reddit is a much better place to take that in, however you so wish.

Bummer you feel this way. I always enjoy your insights. The place needs more moderate viewpoints
No, it doesn't. Needs the opposite of that. All the maniacs ruin having any moderate point of view. Lock it up, hide it in some obscure corner of the internet.

I'll still go there from time to time, but it's really a frustrating place. That said my only suspension in 10+ years were here in the FFA so maybe PSA is a safer place for me.

Any dissent is dealt with swiftly.  The middle is the harshest place to be - you get dog piled from all sides.
