Is Brain Williams really the Starting SS on Jax (1 Viewer)

I just noticed Roto has him listed as the starting SS in Jax... that would mean hes in line for a very decent season.

I just landed him twice, late in 2 large leagues as a CB; but I'm sure MFL will change it before the season starts

Brian Williams-DB- Jaguars Jun. 11 - 2:04 pm et

Jaguars DB Brian Williams has reportedly looked like "a natural" in his conversion from cornerback to strong safety.

The move should not only help Jacksonville in coverage, it could extend Williams' career. Gerald Sensabaugh will return to a special teams role this year. Williams still won't be a great IDP target behind a stingy front seven.

Whats everyone take.. is this a nice little sleeper here.

Yahoo! has this listing behind his name.

KFFL:

Aug 8 The Associated Press reports Jacksonville Jaguars CB Brian Williams (undisclosed) may not play in the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 9, after being limited in practice earlier in the week.

ROTOWIRE:

Aug 5 Williams is listed as the starting strong safety for Saturday's preseason opener against the Falcons, according to the Florida Times-Union.

Recommendation: This should serve as a sign that Williams' move to safety is permanent, and not just something the team was experimenting with. Expect Williams' tackle numbers to increase at the safety spot.

--------------

He was drafted in our league. It seems he could be the guy. I think your head's up pick up may pay off for you. In a division with all the four team that like to keep the scores close this could mean big numbers. The pass will be very important and his ability to pick it up and be the first to the ball to make the hit will have his solos climb through the roof.

I say watch his production in the preseason and then week one will be the true test. The prime players show their abilities in week one when given a chance to shine.

Williams played some safety in Minn.

The Jags are going to play a lot less vanilla cover-2 this year. With Williams at safety they consider their defense to have 4 corners (even though Reggie Nelson hasn't actually played NFL corner). They're going to play more straight man and blitz more.

Other times they're going to play Sensabaugh at SS. I'm not clear to me whether Williams will be back at CB or off the field when they do, but they have made it clear that Gerald will play. I do know that I read that Williams has accepted his new role without complaint.

One of their main stated reasons for making these changes is that it allows them to do more with Reggie Nelson to take advantage of his speed and play-making ability. This includes blitzing him more often. Greg Williams has already compared Nelson to Sean Taylor and in big-play leagues I think he's the guy to go after.

RotoWire) Williams will start at strong safety in the team's base defense, and slide to corner in nickel packages, coach Jack Del Rio told the Florida Times-Union.

Analysis: Expect lots of tackles from Williams this year, especially as it seems he'll be on the field all of the time. Williams also has a nose for the ball, and a few interceptions could be expected in this new role.
