Is Caddy over Ward the forgone conclusion? (1 Viewer)

In a PPR league Ward holds some intrigue for me. He is a solid inside runner that dealt with injuries last year. He still received a decent number of targets and receptions and even 2 rec TDs.

Is it ludicris to think he couldn't come out with the starting gig and be a decent RB2 or good RB3?

Perhaps most of us have assumed this is a foregone conclusion too quickly, but I expect Caddy to be the primary ball carrier. Ward is going to be involved in the offense, regardless of Caddy, however, and given Caddy's durability concerns, Ward could find himself starting at some point this season. Ward is being undervalued by some this season, I suspect.

I think Caddy is the unquestioned starter. That's what the coaches have been saying. Barring injury(always risky with Caddy) there is no reason Caddy's numbers should go down and no reason Ward's should go up. Doesn't help that the coaching staff doesn't seem to like Ward very much.

I could see Caddy finishing in the top-20 with a little luck. Ward is nothing more than a very late round flyer, likely as a Caddy handcuff.

I got them both in a dynasty startup just now and Ward came way cheaper than Caddy, but seeing as how I took them both there's not much value indication. I got Caddy in the 7th and Ward in the 16th. My thoughts are that Caddy, despite his injuries, is simply better than Ward and has proven it last year and his rookie season. I don't think Ward has a 1200 yard season in him much less a 1500 yard season.

At this point in their careers I think Caddy gets ever opportunity to take the starting job and run with it, and given how far he came last season, especially at the end, it's not out of the realm of possibility for Caddy to put together a 1200-300 season. It's a major longshot but his performance last year indicated its at least in the realm of possibility.

Ward I think will perform at a similar or lower level if Caddy goes down and he gets the lions share of the carries. But this year is Caddy's until he either gets injured or slips below 3.6 for two straight games.

Nopt evemn the coaches saying Ward's carries will go up.

Do you have a link to back up what you said about the coaches disliking him? They were mad when he missed the OTA's because of a dental problem but that's not the same as dislining him.

The coaches have hinted his carries will go up a little(but still not a lot).

I loved Ward for FF and he let me down big time last year. That sting is hard to forget
