I think he's due to see a good number of rotational time at both LE and RE, with plenty of time as a nickel pass rusher, but I think the Lions will list Jason Hunter and Dewayne White as the starters.

Jene, what are your thoughts on Jason Hunter? I have better options on the wire in terms of an immediate replacement, but wondering if you see him as having any long-term impact on Avril. He obviously isn't putting up super number sor anything, but 7 total tackles (5 solo) plus the sack and PD last game... and is 20 lbs heavier than Avril, so wondering if he might steal some snaps being better against the run.

Hard to say. The Lions didn't seem excited about having Avril on the strong side this offseason, but seemed to change course toward the end of camp after seeing both Avril and Hunter on film. Assuming Avril gets healthy and reasonably soon, I think it's possible Hunter steals some base defensive snaps, but only in rotation. Avril took plenty of base defensive snaps in Week 1 over Hunter.

According to PFF, he's been playing quite a bit lately. Any homers or anyone who has watched a Liopns game have any info on this guy? Seems like a low level DL2 to me just looking at the #s. What should we expect the rest of the year?

Avril was hurt a lot in camp and preseason and seemed to be out of favor with the coaches and was very under the radar. But Avril has played solid football since returning and looks a lot like the Avril at the end of last year. He looks like a mid DL2 with upside to me and is a great buy low in dynasty leagues. The only downside is that he is not very big and thus could lose some snaps in the base defense.
