Is everyone starting Marvin Harrison today? (1 Viewer)

I am still trying to decide. I kind of want to see what he does before I throw in in there, but I would hate to not have him in if he blows up tonight.

In the league I have him, we start 3 WRs, with a flex that could be a 4th.

Fitzgerald and Jennings are no-brainer starters for me. Harrison is my potential 3rd. Lee Evans is my 4th, but after he burned me last year, I will not start him until he actually does something. Muhammad and Gaffney are my 5th and 6th WRs, and the former could be a potentially could start today with Steve Smith out, but can I really rationalize starting Muhammad over Marvin Harrison?

Harrison is a safe play with great upside. I would start him. The Colts are gonna throw and Harrison will catch some balls, possibly touchdowndowns. There is no doubt Harrison is the #2 WR in a great passing offense.

I think there is a little doubt, he may be the #1 WR in a great passing offense. Then again he could also turn out to have no place at all in a great passing offense.

Yes I am starting him without hesitation.

Starting him at my flex spot in a ppr league. Primetime game, Peyton is back, they are opening up in a brand new stadium. Until I see that he is completely washed up when he is healthy I am starting him.

I have to choose between him and Ricky Williams as my flex in a PPR league..... I am torn

I am starting Westy, Mike Turner, Andre Johnson, Marques Colston as my other RB/WRs.....any inputs on whether I go with Ricky or Marvin at flex?

I've got input.I've got lots of input.

Yes, with confidence! Would you have started him week 1 of last year? He's healed and had a terrific camp and preseason. There's no reason to believe he can't put up respectable #'s in this offense, he's still Mannings favorite target!

I am playing him in my dynasty. It will be interesting to see what the D does to cover him and Wayne this week, not knowing what Marvin will be able to do.

I thought I stole him in the 10th round, but I'm uncertain now.

His final numbers weren't bad, but he looked old and slow. And that ball he dropped, he always grabs that in the past.

Were we watching the same game? I think he looked great. Manning wasn't as accurate as normal with his passes and the timing was likely off.

sat him today. but i think he looked fine. the fumble was a fluke/good defensive play. that whole team looked rusty. they will be alright, and Marvin will put up decent WR 2 numbers this yr.

Pretty sure we had the same game on. It was the most unimpressive 76 yards receiving I've seen in awhile. And he gets no looks in the red zone.

Agreed. Manning looked his way a lot and Harrison was very quick in his breaks to the ball. The biggest problem with the Colts was that their OL didnt give Manning nearly enough time to set his feet - likewise his WR's didnt have enough time to get open. Part of this was due to the great Bears Pass Rush; part was the fault of a porous, injured Offensive Line. Dungy is going to have to leave the TE in to block or go back to a traditional I formation to give some extra pass-protection help to the OL until they can prove theyre up to the task of giving Manning enough time to thow the ball. All that said - a very encouraging start by Marvin. :)

The whole Colts offense was woefully out of sync tonight and the Bears D played lights out.

When Manning gets his timing down this offense will get rolling. I am betting that will happen sooner rather than later.

Here's the problem, as I see it.Those 8 yard slants he catches in his sleep will start disappearing once corners realize he cannot run by them anymore.

As long as hes on the field, Manning will go to him - regardless of whether hes 26 or 36. I guess its all a matter of persepctive- if you grabbed him in the 5-6th round, you should be happy he went 8 for 76 on a day when Manning didnt have 3 seconds to throw the ball.

I suppose.

If Harrison stays healthy, he'll clearly be worth his draft position. But he looks pretty much like a possession receiver now, lacking the speed to get deep or to get much separation on shallow routes.

Some things I noticed that were positive is- cleary the Colts aren't worried about his knees- on that play where Bears got a safety on Addai, they brought Marvin in motion to crowd the line and then try and drive block a linebacker. Also, Peyton did look his way in the red zone, he tried for a 25+ td throw that Marvin was interferred on. Marvin basically matched Wayne for the game until a couple of Wayne catches on the last drive. I think we're looking at a 1A-Wayne, 1B Marvin situation now.

The negatives was that Harrison did not look explosive, ran safe possession routes, and didn't seem to seperate from the corners....

However, Marvin has looked that way often even when he was top 5. He runs those little slant routes, goes down before any real hit, doesn't do much after the catch, then suddenly- he's wide open for a 40 yd td..... He's started out slow before and at some point turns it on. The question now is whether he can turn it on at this point, but I think he's clever and experienced enough to pull out another productive season..

It doesn't look like those who took Marvin are going to have to cry in our soup. but he's not gonna set the world on fire based on what I say last night (despite Madden pimping the heck out of him during the game).

New guess / projection: 65/825/6

Obviously, it's only one week, Manning get's better, etc. etc., but you could see how they were using him differently now.

I do think Gonzalez will underperform now as it looks like Marvin is not a total bust.

Barring injury, there's no way the #2 WR in Indy- which Marvin is at the very least- gets less than 1000yds receiving.....
