Is Garrard a legit fantasy starter? (1 Viewer)

In my league (6pts /pass TD, 1 pt /25 pass yards, 1 pt / 10 rush yards) Garrard is 7th in points per game, just decimals behind Favre and very consistently scoring in the high teens each week. He also seems to be getting improving each week.

But I haven't heard many people touting him, and FBG's 250 forward has him ranked as an average backup behind much lower scoring and less consistent (so far, at least) QBs.

I don't understand that ranking unless the consensus is he's just been lucky and will come down to earth soon.

I think you could roll with him as your #1, maybe trading your current #1 for help at a weak spot. Anybody agree? or do you think he's a flash in the pan?

I am in a similar scoring league and for some reason (up until now), I have had a hard time getting him off my bench. He is ranked #9 in my league and the last two weeks I started Pennington and Culpepper over him...silly me. I think the deal with him is he is never going to light the world on fire, but will give you nice, steady production.

I'm going to try to run the rest of the year with Garrard as my only QB. The rushing yards help his totals, but I don't expect any 300 yard games or 3+ TD weeks. I've used him in years past when he was the starter as well, and he seems to consistently put up decent if unspectacular numbers. That might account for the lower ranking. Some people would prefer 40 point weeks from their QBs even if they sometimes put up less than ten, rather than a consistent twenty.
