loose circuits

Anybody have any insight? Looking at DC on Browns web-site Benjamin is listed behind Massaquoi with both out Norwood is behind them but obviously Cribbs and/or Gordon would be the better options. Started Gordon last week and was frustrated with Benjamin taking the snaps. Don't want that to repeat this week. Will Norwood potentially get the snaps? Will Cribbs be involved? He was dinged last week

Gordon will definitely get his shot today. What he does with it is impossible to say. I have better options but if I had to this would be the week.

Well it sounds like you know that both WR Mohammed Massaquoi and WR Travis Benjamin are OUT.And you also know Cribbs got dinged last week.

Cribbs had to go thru the NFL concussion protocal to qualify to play this week after taking THIS HIT:

Watch Josh Cribbs take a scary hit on a punt return

In Baltimore's 23-16 win over Cleveland on Thursday, Josh Cribbs took a frightening hit that left him unconscious.

It happened with 5:07 left in the first quarter when he was creamed by Baltimore's Dannell Ellerbe on a punt return.

Cribbs' helmet flew off from the force of the contact and his head slammed onto the ground.

He remained motionless on the turf, his arms sprawled and his eyes closed for a few tense moments.

Players from both teams got down on their knees and began praying, including Ellerbe.

"You ain't really trying to go out there and try to hurt somebody," he said. "It's a part of the game, but you never do it intentionally. I thought he had just fumbled the ball; I didn't know he went to sleep."

After several minutes, Cribbs regained consciousness and was helped to the sidelines.

It was a scary moment for a player who suffered at least one other concussion two years ago ...
The above looked bad and his family even mentioned that he should think about retiring after the above hit. Cribbs is a friend of former Browns RB Jerome Harrison who is in dire medical condition after playing football but Cribbs says he's ready to go today. My link

Joshua Cribbs' family begs him to retire

Josh Cribbs was belted last Thursday by one of the biggest hits of the 2012-2013 season. The special teams weapon was leveled as he went up field on a punt return against the Baltimore Ravens.

The result was such a scary sight that Cribbs’ family does not want him to lace up his cleats ever again.

“Everyone was calling and couldn’t stop crying,” Cribbs who has two kids, told the Cleveland Plain Dealer, “My brother, who’s the reason why I’m playing football, even he wants me to stop.”

“They’re saying, ‘I know you love the game but we don’t want you to play anymore,’” he said. “They’re like, ‘Family’s more important. You’ve got so many years of your life. You’ve showed enough good football.’”

As he prepares to play against the New York Giants on Sunday, his wife Maria wants him to take additional steps to ensure he is sincerely OK.

“She wants me to be seen by another specialist,” he said. “She wants me to get a CAT scan, especially with what happened to [former Browns running back Jerome Harrison, who had a brain tumor removed]. I still go over to his house every now and then and talk to him. He’s doing pretty bad. He’s in and out of the hospital with seizures. They just don’t want the same thing to happen to me.”

... So will he be gun-shy when he steps back onto the field?

“I feel great,” said Cribbs, who was limited in practice. “I’ve had no symptoms and I’m ready to play [sunday] against the Giants. I’m not scared of taking another hit.”
Cribbs is super tough but I honestly don't know if the coaches would be eager to give him a full workload this week. Head Coach Pat Shurmur's plan was to use him primarily on special teams before the season began. He only got more work last week after Mo-Massaquoi was listed as OUT. This week with both Massaquoi AND Benjamin OUT he would have been the guy but take another look at that hit.Oh and Josh Gordon said he's going to get the start.

Browns rookie Josh Gordon says he’s ready to start vs. New York Giants

... Gordon said he will start Sunday.

I’m starting at the X position opposite of Greg because of the numbers that we have, guys down and whatnot,” Gordon said Thursday after practice. “So I’m definitely having to step up and fill a void for right now.”

Gordon has started twice this season, but the Browns opened in a three-receiver set on both occasions. With Massaquoi sidelined last week for the Browns’ 23-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Josh Cribbs started in his place but suffered a concussion when he absorbed a vicious hit during a punt return in the first quarter. Cribbs returned to practice Wednesday, but Gordon simultaneously seized his opportunity to earn a more prominent role.

“I thought he had his best practice as a professional [Wednesday],” offensive coordinator Brad Childress said of Gordon. “I didn’t see any hesitation. I didn’t see him thinking about anything. I saw him playing fast, catching the football, just doing all the things that a professional receiver, you expect to see.”

.. The Browns need Gordon to step up. Massaquoi and Benjamin haven’t practiced all week, so the receiving corps is short-handed. The sense of urgency created by the situation motivated Gordon to excel during his preparation for the Giants.

You may look to the sideline and there’s nobody gonna come in for you,” he said. “There’s no break, there’s no rest. You’re pretty much gonna have to either man up to it and hold up to your responsibilities and that’s really what it came down to, and at this point there’s really nothing holding me back.”

I'm cautiously optimistic today will be a good one for Gordon. I've gone after him in every league I could and I think he's going to be terrific in time. It would be nice if he got things off the ground today.
