Should the Packers Orginization and Farve Make Up?

They were the ones who traded Favre. When it became clear the Packers no longer wanted him he simply wanted to go to a Super Bowl contender which is hardly something people should be upset about in my opinion.
If he wanted that he should have stayed with the Packers.

My mother is a long time season ticket holder...was at the Ice Bowl with my Grandfather (who had the tickets before my mother since the place opened). She was not happy with him being in Minnesota.Plenty of "real" Packer fans had a problem with the way things went down.Anyone stating its all one way or the other are completely full of it.
I know very few "real" Packer fans who cared at all. Sure, they thought he was a nutjob and a baby, but most didn't really care. I know a ton of wannaby fans who pissed and moaned the past couple years about Favre. Literally couldn't stop obsessing about him. Maybe it's different when you come from GB. Most of the people there are far more focused on who is actually on the roster.
I come from Menasha...not far from GB, 6 tickets in my family. My family all lives there. Was a large part of that stadium just "wannaby"s when he was booed upon returning?I just laugh at any who want to question who is a real Packer fan because they may have had a different opinion on Favre leaving than others.Id far more question those people who openly cheered for the Vikings against the Packers because of Favre...than those who cheered for their team over a rival and disliked seeing #4 in purple.
There were so many fans who got all riled up at the team mgmt because Favre was traded.....or became enraged that Favre was playing elsewhere....but the true fans didn't care about any of that. Know why? Because a true fan cares about the current (at a point in time) Packer roster more than anything else. I don't care which free agents leave -- once they leave, I automatically care less about them than whoever replaces them in the starting lineup. That's just the way it should be.So was I disappointed that Favre left? Sure. Was I upset that the team traded him? Maybe. Did I have trouble getting over it? Nope, once we hit week 1 that year, it was time to move on.
Funny how many "true fans" got riled up at those who supported Ted Thompson in the several years after the trade.I think you are completely mistaken thinking that "true fans" were only worrying about the current team and didn't care about the rest.

Thompson and McCarthy no longer wanted him so that wasn't an option.
Sure it was...don't retire. They were ready to move on...he made it easier by retiring.Had he not done so, he would have been a Packer in 2008.

I'm not disputing the events. Favre retired and after he did the Packers moved on. All I said is that when he decided to un-retired playing for the Packers was no longer an option. Thompson and McCarthy didn't want him. At that point, Favre had no control over where he was going to play. One year later, he did and he chose a team that was a QB away from being a Super Bowl contender. I never had a problem with him doing that. The Packers made their choice and he made his. Both sides had every right to make the choice they made. As I said earlier, it seems foolish for Favre to go to a lesser team simply because it would've made Packer fans happier. I never blamed him for wanting to play for the Vikings. That was the team he should've chosen. It just so happened to be a Green Bay rival. To that I say, so what? It didn't bother me at all.

With that I agree...though, you leave out, that one year later, to get to the Vikings he had to retire again from the Jets and claim he would not unretire (said specifically he would not do that to Mike Tannenbaum) in order to be signed by Minnesota. He was wanting back there long before things even went down with GB.If he had simply said Im going here simply because its my best chance, I would agree with you. But thats not how it happened.

Again, I never had a problem with Favre wanting to play for the Vikings the entire time. That was by far his best option. Everyone knew it. He knew it and Thompson sure as hell knew it because he refused to trade him there. So that never bothered me. He wanted to play for a team that was a QB away from being a Super Bowl contender and the Packers made it clear they no longer wanted him. So again I say, big deal if he went to the Vikings. And again I'll say that both sides handled the situation poorly. Favre made mistakes. Thompson made mistakes. It never should've gone down the way it did and it's unfortunate. But the time has come in my opinion to move on and forget the ugliness of that situation and focus on what's really important - Favre's greatness as a Packer. As a long-time Packers fan, that's all I've ever cared about and now that Favre's career is over it seems to me to be the rather obvious thing to focus on. That's why I was glad to see Bob Harlan's comments about retiring Favre's number being a priority. Harlan's a very smart man and he obviously gets it.

:goodposting: Agreed, and agree on Harlan...and Murphy seemingly wants it too. Despite some hiccups in that whole saga, Murphy has done a pretty darn good job too.

Most of this is true, but he wanted to stick it to the Packers bad, maybe more than winning a SB. Going to Minnesota was the best way to do that. Hell he would have gone to Chicago if they didn't have Cutler.
