Is it time to drop Vince Young? (1 Viewer)

I've got Kurt Warner dangling on my waiver wire. Not sure what to do. Sure Young threw for all those yards on Sunday but I bet he doesn't top 200 passing yards a game the rest of the way.

In dynasty, hell no.

In a redraft? He was available in one of mine weeks ago, I picked him up and have since dropped him. My other redrafts are start-2 QB, so he won't be on WW. In most leagues, he might barely be rosterable, but I wouldn't waste the space since the bye weeks are over.

In my 12 team redraft league Young was cut two weeks ago, no one has picked him up as of yet.

One of the leagues I am in is a redraft hybrid (must keep one QB, RB, WR) ... 6pt run / 4pt pass TDs ...

Young has been kept by the owner, but not played in three weeks in favor of Jason Campbell. That says a lot of that owner's frustration with him.

Not sure Campbell is someone I would bench him for on a regular basis yet, but I can't argue about it either.

In your case, Warner? Depending on the scoring he has upside, sure. But he has also been somewhat fragile of late too.

he's been dropped in all my redrafts.

he was also dropped in a 5 player keeper league (only b/c the guy had to actually field a starting lineup this week). i'm sure he'll get some bids in our FA auction. not from me, but we have 4 owners from tennessee.

Any chance he rebounds if they get him a target or two next year? What an awful year!
People who've been watching this team have been saying since before they lost their 2 best WRs that they needed a true deep threat to stretch the field. They have a very good running game, but no deep game and a bunch of wrs who run sloppy and/or often wrong routes just allows the d to play straight up run. Every offense needs to stretch the field, at least occasionally. It'll make a huge difference for them if they get that guy, imho.

I am not too sure about that, they seemed to run pretty good routes when Collins was playing.

Well, obviously they don't run the wrong route on every play, right?Does everything have to be hyperbole?

I am an owner, and am dissapointed. I drank the kool aid and now am feeling its effects. I wont blame anyone but myself, but I have tried to right the ship. One guy in my league has Favre and Hasselbeck, but wants my Sjax for Hass and Cotchery. I dont want to start Henry/Young and Grant every week, but I may have to unload Sjax if I want to make it to the playoffs. Or I could just hope Vince pulls together a half decent few games (which is nearly impossible, actually) and keep Sjax. I am leaning toward keeping Sjax and having to continue to roll the dice with Young in my 14 teamer.

I was gonna ask why you're still starting Young, then you said "14 teamer".

Ha tell me about. Ive benched him more than half the games. I actually missed out this week on his decent outing, putting in Josh McCown, which obviously speaks to my level of frustration with Young. I am going to roll the dice with him this week against Denver, and pray. Seriously, I refuse to part with Sjax to this guy who is last place that is trying to blackmail me.

To me it's kinda like the SF/Gore situation, where a bunch of circumstances are limiting the fantasy output of the player. In SF, they're always behind, and won't commit to their best offensive weapon, Gore. The the qb sucks, offense sucks, the defense sucks. It all just sucks for him, even though he's a badass. (I'm a Gore owner)In Tenn, they're almost always ahead and running the ball well, and the defense rocks, and they won't committ to the deeper passing game with mediocre to bad wrs and a 2nd year qb who has flashes of brilliance and also struggles at times.(Not a VY owner, kinda saw this on the horizon)I spent a 1st rounder on Gore. Learned my lesson...always go with the guy from the better offense (Addai). That pick, combined with Harrison at #2 have wrecked my season. What do you do with these guys? Can't trade 'em. Can't cut 'em. In your case, you can't even cut Young.Guess there's always next year, at this point. I haven't thrown in the towel yet, but it doesn't look like there's much left out there.

There you go. I have to win 3 games with high points to have an outside chance at the playoffs, what a disappointment.

He's an efficient passer, not an exciting passer. Despite what look like pedestrian numbers, Young is completing 60% of his passes, which is more then many expected of him. He will be called on to throw 5 yard slants, curls, and outs for the rest of the season. That has been Fisher's MO for a LONG time. McNair was 5 years in before they started letting him sling it downfield.
