Is Joe Mauer a Good Pick? (1 Viewer)

This is the 3rd year of a 6 team keeper league I'm in (we keep 8 and each player can only be kept for 3 years). Since I finished in last place, I get the first pick. Here are my keepers going into this year:

1B - Ryan Howard

SS - Jimmy Rollins

OF/3B - Jose Batista

OF - Carlos Gonzalez

SP - CC Sabathia

SP - Dan Haren

RP - Joakim Soria

RP - Francisco Cordera

I know there are injury risks with Mauer, but he is the best available other than a couple of first basemen (don't need with Howard). What do you think?

His knee shouldn't be enough to scare you away. It's hard to do better than Mauer at catcher. The Twins hit him at DH enough to keep some wear off of his knee. And they'll monitor it very carefully. Don't expect more than 10-15 HRs, but he can do a lot of good things for your team without hitting bombs.

Depends on all the league settings and who the other available players are but in a 6-team league, Mauer's value is significantly diminished. That said, he probably has more value than 3 or 4 of your other keepers.
